This, no reason to risk or waste time.

But on the other hand, based on some trucks in the past with autos.
If anyone runs into this, try to drive it like a stick, Low, to second, back to low then up the RPM's to 2nd and 3rd and so on.

Sometimes the change in presure in the VB and running the gears will clear a stuck valve or problem to get you to a shop.

    haha I know, just curious.

Figured maybe they had time to hook the scan tool up to check it out today.

Ok so here's the deal. Toyota got the truck and let it cool down to check the levels. The tranny fluid was down a half quart.. Not good! Also when they hooked up the scanner it came up with a stored code for an error with one of the shift solenoids.. But never had the check engine light come on. I also brought up that there is a vibration when accelerating into 2nd gear! From what i here is pretty common! So the technician test drove my drove my truck and also a new tacoma for comparison! No word on the vibration but as far as the funky shifting of the tranny, toyota is going to fix that by replacing the tranny!

    Good.
I've seen shift sol codes for exactly this same reason. Had two in one week because of low fluid due to cust trying to do fluid swaps.
Glad they are swapping out the trans for you. Get you back to 100%.
Just setting the fluid would more than likey take care of the situation however giving you a new trans is the way to go...

What would cause the fluid to get low like that though?

Glad everything was figured out and they are taking care of you!!

I believe post number -4- in this thread mentioned a solenoid :D

Not all transmission issues have the CEL illuminate which is why I was asking about the gearshift select display, asking if a wrench was illuminated in place of PRND or if it was blank or something.
