SR5 Decal

I just put a SR5 decal on the truck of my bed using the wet method (1 drop of soap with water) and now I can a "hazy" finish underneath and it looks to still be wet. I did this late evening yesterday and it's still like that. I tried to squeegee the water out, but nothing is moving and I'm afraid that applying too much pressure will ruin the sticker.

Is it okay to use a hairdryer to speed up the drying process? Will that harm the final adhesion of the sticker?

I know, but pics will be coming after they have dried because they look too hazy right now.

 

When I had my tint installed the guy told me I should expect hazing during the first few weeks and that it would go away. Beings they are both wet installs maybe it will go away . Sockmonkey will probably know best.

 

just leave it in the sun, my new decals took about 4 days to not look hazy anylonger

It may help but I wholdnt just hold the hair dryer on there, potential melting hazard . Personaly I would just let it take its coarse so ther is no chance of messing up the decal.

 

perhaps I could use the cool air coming out of the hairdryer? i just wanna see how they'll look when it's not hazy...

I work with vinyl graphics and I have used a hair drier on multiple occassions to help cure a wet application. The key is to not hold it real close to the sticker and check it periodically. You don't want it to get real hot, but warm. Hope this helps.

I'd wait, trust me, you don't want to rush something like that only to have it not end up right. I'd just leave it and let time do it's thing. If you can, park outside in the sun and let nature do it's thing. You'll have some great looking decals before you know it!

I might be a complete airhead, but I think the way these decals were made for me is that the top clear vinyl piece is supposed to come off. I peeled it back and now I'm just left with the actual SR5 stickers on the bedside and there's no more protective covering.

I had to have one of my stock decals replaced by the dealer...when they were finished there was no hazing. It looked perfect.

Are you guys using a different method than dealers for your aftermarket stickers?

 

Well i finally figured my aftermarket stickers came with 3 layers, awhite backing, vinyl sticker, and the clear top layer. what I did was installed the sticker, did the squeegee thing on it and left the top layer. I then later figured out that the clear top layer was part of the transfer process and needs to be removed and so I did that and my sticker no longer has hazing. It's now perfect! Pics coming tomorrow when i can find my freakin camera.

 

where did yo uget your decal, I would like to get some but sock monkey dont make them anymore...
