Nice start. I know you feel it's good enough but those of us that have been around long enough, wheeled hard enough know a little more then a guy new to this game. I'm not starting trouble, just feel you should take some constructive criticism. That's why forums like this are here, to help one another.

Trust me when I say you should always wear eye protection (should it be grinding, welding, cutting with plasma cutter, drilling, etc...). I've been to the hospital with welders eye only once, trust me, that's the only time I wanna get that. I've had my share of metal shaving in my eye as well, still have a sliver stuck behind my eye.

I would gusset the bottom of the mount plate to help it with downward torque and add bolts with brackets back into the frame rail. Just a suggestion. The only other thing I would suggest more for looks but also for better clearance is a hawse fairlead instead of the roller fairlead.

Again, it's a nice start but with a little modifications you'll have a stronger, reinforced hidden winch mount. Keep up the good work, we all had to start somewhere.

Yeah I wanted the hawse fairlead but I just used the roller that It came with. And as for the design and bolts and everything I just went by the undercover hwms that is being sold online by a vendor so I think it should hold up fine as they haven't had any public complaints on structure or weakness or anything.

    I predict:
"WTB: 2005-2011 super white bumper cover."
At least the tupperware will slow the winch down like a parchute on a dragster. This would actually have a chance if it was designed with some structure, but it takes next to nothing to bend 1/4" plate, and the bolts will pop like shirt snaps from the top down once the plate bends. But hey, don't listen to solid advice, not my truck. I just hope nobody dies over this ignorance. And yes, I'm all for building things rather than buying, I'm going to build my own winch mount very soon.

We don't, or atleast I don't wanna see that happen that's why you're getting so many responses suggesting you gusset it and add more reinforcement.

Thanks but y'all should also suggest these ideas to the Undercover HWMS people on here selling them to members. Same design

I haven't seen their design but I'll check it out, can you post a link to it? I usually build my winch plates out of 3/8" steel and weld directly to the frame rails, that's just me though. Overkill maybe but I play on black trails and where there isn't any trails. LOL

Just had a look at the pics in their gallery, big differences between it and yours. I don't care much for their design either for the record, but anyway, seems your mind is made up, so post the pics when you have them.

Sorry dude, but this is a undercover wms. I wouldn't trust it in anything but a light direct pull. And I wouldn't put much
    faith in that.
At least add some gusseting and more stable mounting points before you put a load on it. It won't get you far where it is.

Members might be a but harsh but they are trying to be helpful before injury or damage might possibly occur.

It is the same style as undercover hwms but it is not the same specs.

Looking at your pics you are pretty close but there are no lower gussets to start with compared to the true undercover unit. Square tube is not the same specs. I would not bet my life on those welds little prep was done from what I can tell for proper penetration and no signs of proper heat once the weld was completed.

As for safety they are not kidding, eye protection is a must as a bystander and user of the tool. You will see once you get older.

Looks good but might need a few tweaks.

I would take the bumper cover off and to avoid damage and stress that setup by using it and look for deflection in the setup from a safe view point .

    http://undercoverhwms.com/wp/photo-gallery/?album=1&gallery=1

look at the last photo for a comparison.
