i was going to carry something in my truck the other day and i did not have any thing to strap it down to up by the cab. so i got some tie downs coming like the truck comes with by the tail gate. im going to use the bed bolts that holds the bed down. i seen other people doing it but they say the anchors dont move. so im thinking of installing a bushing where it holds the bed down and the Tie Down Anchor will be able to move. so the bed bolts will be tight. my question is are the bolt long enough where they come down out of the nut. the spacer will only be 1/8-1/4 long.
i have a bed cover so i cant use the Cleats to hold stuff.

I'm guessing your year didn't come with these? Maybe install them? I wouldn't want to touch my bed bolts.

Both of the Tacoma's I've owned had them. I only found that on the 11' that it didn't have anything to to latch to in the bed under the window, just the bed cleats and D-rings.

That's odd because my 2010 had those D-rings..

OP's talking about at the front of the bed... and I'm pretty sure that none of the 2nd gen rucks yet have had them at the cab end although they'd be a great addition!

I don't have any d rings on the cab side of the bed either. Only near the tailgate.

^Those were added starting in 2012.

This is actually a good idea. You may need to enlarge the hole in the tie down anchor plate to fit around the bushing of course. The bed bolts have a lot of extra thread:

There's about an extra 1.5" on the bed bolts to spare

It has been done custom, a couple of the NE guys have done it to haul a motorcycle or quad. I believe they used the drain holes up front and used a big washer underneath.

OP, check my Sig for Dodge sprinter tie downs. Pull the bed bolts and put these extra d-links on.

Mine just has the two near the tail gate. Nothing up front. I had my tail gate open before on another truck and the stuff came out. That is why I'm wanting something by the cab. I may not put the spacer in and just bolt it back down

BTW, the bed rails have a few holes in them, so you can thread ratchet straps or ropes through without using the cleats. Did this to tie down my AP rear bumper when bringing it home. Not as secure as floor-mounted D-rings but will do in a pinch.

These didn't come pre-2012. They only came with D-Rings. Some tonneau covers won't let you use the cleats when the tonneau is down. The U-bolts I found are a great edition, especially if you're using a tonneau cover.
