Been wanting to configure a Tacoma for months now. Haven't been able to go to dealers because of my busy schedule. Been trying for months to go on their website to see how much mine would cost so I can have an idea of what I will be paying. Whats up with their Build Your Own site? I put my area code in and just brings me to the website of a dealer in that location.

One thing I think that the choices are limited to what is available in dealer stock in your area. So, if you try to build something that isn't available, you don't have that option.

Really? I'm gulf states too and I've had some issues with building exactly what I want...sometimes. But, dealer trading & preference is an option isn't it? That's crazy.

Yeah, in my experience, some options aren't available on the build your own system based on zip code.

It says "Start building a vehicle in your area" and then theres a spot to put in your zip code. I put it in, and it brings me to gulfstatestoyota.com. And it just shows me inventory of trucks, most of which don't have a picture.

    Some stuff...
I dropped into my local dealer wanting to build my OR to spec and they basically showed me to the door! Tried selling me whatever they had on the lot and had zero interest in ordering/building one and waiting 6 to 8 weeks for the commission I guess.

(So here's what I did and suggest.)

My advice, get a Costco or USAA membership and use their vehicle referral program. It should save you a few grand off the top (this is what I did). I did this and ordered my OR to spec. Granted, it took close to 8 weeks to arrive, but was well worth the waiting having the rig that I wanted!

    Good luck.
