I'm trying to decide between these two covers. Any real world experience out there?

I've been debating between these and soft covers, but security is a concern of mine. I'd like to safely carry valuables back there. Thought of the undercover as well but like the color match offered by the fiberglass covers.

One other question, a neighbor of mine has a fiberglass cover (I think Leer) on a short bed Silverado. I sometimes see him carrying tall items with the cover lifted and tied so it won't move up and down. Is this advisable?

I've carried tall things and just tied the cover down, hasn't seamed to pose a problem it locks as well so security is there. Mine is a Leer, but I think I talked to you about before. Just my 2 cents

I have the ARE on mine. It locks and unlocks via the remote door lock so I feel it is secure. When it is locked down you cannot open the tailgate outward as the top rolls over the tailgate. I combined mine with the ARE Bedrug and it makes for a good look.
I have the same felt padded liner on the top and the bedrug with the latch cover and light upgrade also.

I have the ARE LSII as well and I like it. I looked at that one and the Leer, I just thought the ARE had better lines than the leer. And, it was cheaper!

Thanks for the replies. There are only 2 shops in my area that carry these. After discounts/coupons, the ARE will cost me $899. and the Leer would be $859.

Oops, hit "post" before I finished. Since the prices are very close, I'm having trouble deciding between the two.
