    Too few to list.
Maybe the cooler climate? We had three tacomas and all had the issue.

Just to clarify: I can do the DTRL mod with LEDs and it won't melt or crack my 06?

I have DRL's and I switched to LED bulbs specifically to prevent my lenses from cracking and melting.

I went with VLEDS switchback bulbs, massive heat sink on the socket end of the bulb. I touched the heatsink and the control unit after an hour trip and they were just slightly warm, so they are doing the job.

You'll be fine with what you want to do.

OZ, I didn't have a lens issue with my '05, but with all the talk on TW about melting lenses, I was concerned enough to check everything.

The lenses were fine, bu the bulb sockets were scorched dark tan (they should be gray) and that concerned me. It wasn't a stretch to think the wire insulation would be the next victim. I got rid of the OEM bulbs and went LED.

On my '14 the first setting on the stalk is "DTRL" and the running lights aren't on if I'm not using that setting. Maybe that was the "fix" for this problem? I've been leaving this on all the time, should I try to avoid using it on hot days?

My past 2 tacomas 2009, 2011 never had issues with the DRLs melting or anything. Canada aswell.

Any chance the Canadian trucks had different bulbs (wattage. Slight difference, 3157 vs 3057?).

Since ALL Canadian trucks had to be wired for DRL to meet legislation, makes me wonder

    I'm wondering the same

I'm really happy mine came without the DTRL. I've seen many a complaints about this issue.

12+ shouldn't have a problem. You have the on/off switch and also the redesigned headlamps. I believe they are also 3057 bulbs instead of 3157's.

I have not had any issues with the updates replacements Toyota installed.
