So I picked up my 13 double cab tacoma a few weeks back and love it so far. There is only one gripe I have. The window controls on the drivers side rattles with certain bass. I pulled it out and played with it to no avail. I have looked at a lot of posts about this, but has anyone actually fixed it and how. I seem to fixate on that dang rattle everytime I drive and listen to the radio!

I forgot to mention that the rattle stops when i apply any pressure to the control, like resting my knee against it.

It might have not been pushed all the way down. Take it out and put it back in. Use a plastic panel remover tool.

Mine has the same issue. Took it to the dealer and they wrapped insulating tape on the driver's door master switches and put it back together.

Rattle came back 2 weeks later...

I know that's why I'm hesitant to bring it in. I would waste a lot of time and never get it fixed...

So I just read this post and have something very similar going on, but on the passenger side. It gets so annoying that I'll literally lean over while I'm driving to give it a good whack. It works for a few minutes and then comes back. I guess you could say that's a little dangerous. The source is the plastic cover that surrounds the window and lock switches. Apparently the connection points aren't tight enough, which results in the rattle. I tried squirting Shoe Goo along the edges to see if I could get it to stop and that just made a huge mess. I think I'm going to try removing the piece altogether and apply something else before replacing the cover. I'll post again with the results. Wish me luck!

I have a 13 too. I could have swore my rattle was coming from the actually driver side door speaker near the window. Doesnt happen all the time, only when certain low bass chords hit (aka most tool songs!). Wonder if it can be the switch. I've tried holding down every single piece of plastic, either it be on the door switches or the lock, etc, and it doesn't work. The guys at the dealership said they would replace the speaker, but I'm afraid that will open a can of worms by taking apart the door and thus create more squeaks and rattles.

I fixed it on mine by pulling the panel off (It's really easy with a panel puller) and cutting up a foam sponge and placing it around the entire outside of the switch, and then reinstalling it. Works like a charm and no rattle whatsoever.

Yep same issue was going to talk to dealer about it at 10,000. If I push the vertical part of the door above the controls it goes away. Anyone have tricks or tips? Or a suggestions for dealer?

I pulled the control unit out, and sprayed all the tabs that hold it in place with Armor All.

It hasn't made a sound since.

I have no explanation for how or why that worked, but it did.
