In SK, tax is 10%. 5% GST (goods and services tax, charged by federal govt) and 5% PST (provincial sales tax).
    Everyone in Canada pays GST.
    PST varies by province

Yes , combination of the federal GST ( 5% ) + whatever the provincial sales tax ( PST ) is .

In BC the PST is 7% so the total sales tax rate is 12 %

We have what's called HST. Harmonized Sales Tax. PST and GST rolled into one.

We had GST and PST then the BC Libs brought in the HST then we revolted and got a referendum and voted out the HST and went back to GST and PST , you see ?

Albertans seem to be getting the best deals even before taxes. My Toyota dealer wouldn't budge much on price at all.

Really? That's shitty. My dealer basically said that if I don't buy my truck that someone else will so they don't move on price much. Arrogant but true.

Would not buy a new Tacoma in Canada. I had mine imported through a broker.

$20,400 for a 2007 TRD Access Cab in 2009 with 18K miles on it and all the service done at the local dealer. Bought it in Ithaca, NY (I live in Windsor, ON). Exchange rate was close to par at the time so I saved thousands on it. I tried to buy a good used TRD around here but they simply weren't available so it was more of a situation where I found the vehicle I wanted on the internet and it just happened to be in NY.

So is it still worthwhile to fly to the US and buy a vehicle? If I could save 4 or 5 grand after all expenses I would certainly do that.

92 cents on the american dollar at present , you may wanna wait a little to see if the canadian dollar gains in growth but i believe you will save closer to 9000 .

There are tricks to purchasing a new vehicle in the us .Some US dealers wont sell to you unless the truck sits for 3 months on their lot after you purchase it making the purchase a used vehicle . Sounds strange but a lot of people go this route .
