check engine light

    fog lights any time, light up 4x4 switch,on/off drls,3"toytec,255-80-17-km2's
    so i stopped to get gas put the truck in park went to leave and couldnt put truck in gear. soi popped out little override plug and got in gear to get home and check engine light came on found a blown fuse and replaced it but light still on any ideas

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    Disconnect the negative battery to clear the light. Take it for a spin to see if the light comes back on. If it does, get the code read and report back.

    A few additions to make me feel cool.
    DO NOT just unhook your batt! This will solve nothing. Either way if you have fixed the problem the light will turn off in 40 - 50 miles when the computer cycles. IF you clear it then it will still have the problem but will come back on in the same amount of time. Do what Wilson said and take it to autozone and have them check the code.

    i unhooked batt before i got all the responses. drove around about an hour and light stayed off.after finding out what fuse blew (#32 IG1 on instrument panel). i installed back up lights about 6 months ago without a in line fuse i am hopeing thats what blew fuse. installed inline fuse today

    I don't think I've ever heard of a fuse throwing a code...Specially not for anything like a light.

    OP- I'd pay REALLY close attention to your MPGs and engine noise/operating parameters as much as you can. If oyur light stays off and everything works right- Prolly can rest easy, but I'd expect to see that light again.
    Autozone reads codes for free-At least at that point you'll know what you are getting into.

    i think i can have the mech at work check the code monday i will let you know the fuse that blew controlls the back-up, lights air conditioning, passenger airbag on-off switch and the "shift lock system" the back-up lights i installed i tapped into the trucks back-up wireing

    checked for code today no codes came up. because i unhooked the battery i guess hope it stays off if not ill get it read this time
