For those of us in the military there's a difference between being tactical and being "tacticool" (the difference between what you actually use/need and what looks cool). Often times there are a lot of people running around with excessive amounts of 'gear' *coughs* airsoft players.

I've seen some military-related mods for vehicles that have made me look twice and some things that I think would actually be good to use. Does anyone, either military, LEO, or civilian have some military hardware on their vehicle? Here are some things I've seen:

Just a bunch of old crap
I store my bug-out gear in 5 of these trunks:

Mine are the 3-latch by 2-latch size, and they were designed to transport 8 laptops. I just pulled out the foam glued-in inserts and use them for gear. I can fit all 5 of them in the back of my truck (2 on their side). Technically they aren't a truck fixture, but I designed my bed rack baskets around them so I can put two up above the bed and save space for more gear below.

Here are some pics I found of the ones I actually own. First off, take a look at the bed rack I modified and built 2 baskets. Each basket can either hold a 35" tire, or one of these trunks with room to spare (almost room for 2 jerry cans in each basket with 1 trunk):

    Some stuff...
I want the last five minutes of my life back spent reading that thread after biting... Okay, maybe I don't - it was somewhat satisfying from a Darwinism point of view similar to why we watch "Here comes Honey-BoBo" to feel better about ourselves! :D

And doesn't he mean Tony Stark of Stark Industries????

But you have a camper so you can keep loose items in there and not have to worry about theft. I have to keep those trunks locked down if I'm away from the truck, plus the trunks are HEAVY and add about 60lbs of extra weight per trunk to my loads.

If one would carry a lot of those large crates in the bed, that's a LOT of weight for day-to-day carry in my opinion. In terms of the bed liner, if you're going to be hauling a lot of crap that could possibly slide around and tear up the liner, would anyone recommend a tougher liner to add in like, say, a spray on rhino liner? I really don't think I'll be loading up the truck with anything that rough but any thoughts?

You don't have a bed liner, the bed is constructed of composite material...

Get an OEM bed mat, aftermarket bed mat, or bed rug
