Im going to lift my truck 2-3 inches and I was wondering whats the tallest tire that I can put on with out sticking out from the fender that much. I was thinking 255/85 but I drive 40+ miles a day and didnt know if that is a size that you do a lot of driving on? Please help! Thanks!

Before I put on my wheel spacers I ran 265/70/17's and they didn't protrude from the fenders, that's on a stock body with no lift

^^ X2, just got done lifting 2" and with 265/75R16 Michelin LTX M/S 2, the tires don't stick out at all and the truck still has the same or very similar proportions as it did when it was stock.

How far your wheel/tire setup protrudes from the body is a function of your wheel's offset/backspacing, not of your tire.

If you look at it, the widest tire most members run around here are 285 series tires, which depending on the tire, only about 20mm wider than the OEM TRD model tires, so you're going to be only 10mm wider further out.

However, you can make a 265 push past the fenders with a low enough offset.

285's on a 9 " wide rim and 4.5 back spacing. With BFG AT's on it, the sides of my truck get sandblasted daily. Man those tires hold stones.

I ran stock wheels for a while with 265/75R16 and they didn't sick out of the fender.

On that note, I just switched from stock 17" Sport rims to 16" Trail Team rims, which I believe have 3/4 inch less back spacing. the 265's fill the wheel wells nice but don't stick out.

Here is my truck the day I had 285s installed. They don't reall stick out at all. Had 265s on before and they didn't stick out either.

You ain't kidding! That's why I won't own BFG at's again. If there's a rock within 5 feet of you, they'll pick it up and sling it on your truck no doubt.

I run 255/75r17 Cooper Discoverer AT3 on stock Sport wheels, they tuck in nicely. With my Ironman 4x4 lift and 32" tire, I get 18.4mpg on highway trips. The tread is great for general travel.

How do you like the Ironman lift? I didn't know if it would be worth the risk saving $300 rather than OME

2.5" lift in front, aFe air intake, anytime foglights, cut 9" off antenna, superwhite headlights, spintech exhaust, med. tint in the front, weathertech floorliners and caltech seat covers, dashtek dash cover, CHLM, debadged and destickered,
Ok so if I got this right, if I go from a 265-70-17 to 255-75-17, the tire is skinnier and taller which worsens gas mileage? Im looking for tires and I can get a much better deal on 255-75-17 than the 265-70-17. However if my gas mileage is hurt Id rather spend a few more $ now. Any help would be great. Thanks!

    Improved gas mileage, my mistake
