I had a 3" lift at first with 285/70/R17 (33") and the tires rubbed when turning but you can always trim. The smoothness depends on what kind of lift kit you are thinking of buying. Also the gas mileage will definitely go down with the bigger tires. I have a 6" lift with the same tires and my mileage went from 18 to about 13-15 depending highway/city

If you have to ask about the lift, it's not smooth enough. For the smoothest lift, you'll just know man ... you'll just know.

I mean lifting will make your ride rougher just some type of lifts are smoother than others.

I am running MaxTrac 4" Lift Spindles w/ Bilstein 5100 Series Ride Height Adjustable Struts set at 1.75" of lift for the front. The rear is a 2.5" add-a-leaf (AAL) with 1.5" ProComp Lift Blocks and ProComp ES3000 Shocks. This will only work for 2wd though because the lift spindles only fit 2wd. The ride is fine to me but I don't mind a little roughness that comes with a stiffer suspension.

It will need some cutting for sure. Ride depends on type of lift you get. And yes it will effect your gas milage, anything that affects the drivetrain will change gas milage. These thread types come up about once every 3 seconds so please feel free to use the search button
