Can anyone tell me where this POS is leaking from?

Lol well no shit right?! I'm saying it just doesn't seem right, unless the clamp was banded on there too tightly from the get go and it just barely started biting into the rubber til now. 30,000 miles later, it seems really odd.

 

Quite possible. Those clamps are usually pretty good of not cutting the boot though. Get an inner boot kit and replace it. Really easy easy job.

I guess what I'll do first is take it to the dealer and have them address it and if they want to be pricks about it and fight me then I'll just take it into my own hands. I have to do my new coilovers anyways so this just gives me more incentive to speed up the build on them!

 

If they have to pull the axle anyway, replacing the seal only takes another 5 minutes since it's readily accessible. I'd say to change it or at least have them inspect it for wear marks.

 

Yeah, that's probably not a bad idea. It's kinda a weird issue. I'm thinking maybe all that hopping while I was stuck caused the axle to gaff the seal a little somehow and in the process the clamp somehow also thrashed the rubber from the boot just enough to cut into it.

You mention it is too thin to be gear oil, and the color appears slightly brown. I am curious if perhaps that is power steering fluid? The pump is I believe on the passenger side of the truck....Just a thought.

I am going to have to examine the pump a little bit. What are they using for PS fluid on these trucks? ATF?
