So, I was driving home from work. I was about 50 feet from the guy in front of me, and as we're going down a hill, he jams on his brakes. There's fresh snow, and ice beneath that, and I hit my brakes. The tail end of my truck breaks loose, going to the right, I over-corrected, it snapped back left, and I headed off to the right of the road. There was a big snow/ice pile and I knocked it down a couple feet. BOOM!

X2 on the plate bumper. Then new headlight(s) and grille.
Why did he hit the brakes? People just dont seem to know how to drive in weather other than sunny. And thats pushing it sometimes.

That sucks, atleast you weren't hurt and the truck took less damage then it would've if you hit the guy that decided to slam on his brakes in front of you. It could always be worse. A steel bumper would probably be cheaper than a stock plastic replacement.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm alright, the truck did what it's supposed to and kept me safe. Why he hit the brakes is a mystery to me, and yeah, with the chinooks, the roads are sketchy right now. Maybe I'll talk to the body shop about that plate bumper.

It could have been worse! I know that is a hard thing to say; but lucky you are OK.

Somebody has to say it: It may buff out!

Gotta love these wacky Calgary drivers...

Honestly, I find it's mostly new-Canadians (or "immigrants") who bring their bad-habits over from their "motherland".

Try watching the show(s) "Don't Drive Here"... You'll understand why I have this opinion.

Oh... And do yourself a favour & get some WINTER tires.

    What are those, Geolanders ?

Don't cheap-out, buy tires to protect yourself AND other motorists.

EDIT - I see they're Dueler AT's... Not much better than the stock tires.

Sorry to hear but you walked away lucky.
    1. You didn't hit the guy in front of you! Saves you $$$$ and headache
    2. Depending on your insurance, fix the shit yourself and upgrade! Saves you $$$
    3. Get a nice upgraded bumper and you'll be good
