So after weeks of research I finally pulled the trigger on a 2014 TRD Off-Road AC 4x4 w/ Entune Plus in Pyrite Mica. I couldn't find one in the region with the exact options I wanted besides one in Portland OR. So I bit the bullet and flew up there last week to grab her since I wasn't gonna settle for anything else. I also stopped in Eugene on the drive home and picked up a LEER 100XR Shell (gotta take advantage of no sales tax right?!)

On another note to my surprise I only got around 15 MPG on the highway for the whole drive down. I was very surprised/concerned about this so I hit the dealer up about it and he said "cold weather, plus break in period, usually first couple thousand miles etc. and it should get better". Is this normal with new cars? It's my first new purchase so I wasn't sure what to expect. Shit the window sticker says 16/21 MPG.

Once I get some more funds together my plans are to put on some black FN Wheels, black tags and black Nerf Bars on her which should make everything come together nicely. Anyone have recommendations on good quality Nerf Bars?

    Cheers,
    Z

Very nice, I got the same one but 2010 and magnetic gray. Love access cabs. Nerf bars though, meh.

Very sweet ride and congratulations! I too couldn't find exactly what I wanted locally, so I flew to the coast (Seattle) from where I live (N. Idaho) because a dealer in Bellevue had the DCLB I wanted in Pyrite Mica. The trip home for me was over 300 miles of varying terrain from mountain passes to flatlander cruising (70mph) and I averaged in the 19mpg range. Mine wasn't broken-in either and the ambient temperature was near freezing the whole way, so I wouldn't put a lot of credence in the "cold weather and break-in" explanation. I don't have high expectations, but a consistent 19mpg should be do-able and I'll be okay with that. Good luck!!

Nice truck. I have always liked this color despite what others think. I think my next tacoma is gonna be this color. They look so good with a modest lift and dark or black wheels.

    Hi,

Just saw this thread. I just got the exact same truck, and I had it full when I left for about a 340 mile drive, and I drove slow on the fwy (50-65) and pulled off often (every 10-20 mins) at least momentarily if not a little longer. it seemed as if I were getting about 19 ish but dont know, thats just guessing by the guage. One thing that was odd, I finally filled up at the final gas stop or maybe 90 miles left, and I had maybe a third tank or 1/4 left by the gauge. I put in some amount, and thought it was only maybe 5-7 gallons (I believe the salesman told me the tank was 20 gal). Anyway, putting that amount pegged it as full which was odd.

A friend just got the trd offroad dbl cab and has a lift with large mud style tires that vibrate a lot, etc.. He was claiming 16 on the fwy, not sure how accurate that is fwiw.
