Was a work rig for 4 years but I bought a diesel and retired it to garage princess. Still use it for road trips & wheeling occasionally.

Drive it on the weekends. Haul firewood, hunt, guide hunts, sell wood to individuals and campgrounds, and drive it to my real job when it snows. Oh, and if I need new panties, I take it to the mall. ;)

Since I have 2 tacomas they are all of the above. The 03 is the daily driver with over 157k miles and still running like new. And the 13 sits at home with 6k miles looking pretty and gets driven maybe once or twice a week.

DD/Commuter, Farm truck on weekends. Camping rig, bugout rig, backwoods exploring rig, and my "get to camp no matter how much snow we've got" rig. Plus it's my "go wherever I want to in any weather at any time" vehicle. Which, living in the snow belt, I think everybody should have.

hey, tugboattrash,i was in the same "boat" as you (no pun) for 33 years, last 12 years on the lakes working out of the AMACO refinery in whiting,in.on the tug MICHIGAN...i was working 28 on/28 off,so my 99 prerunner sat in my driveway for basically half the year, did a few mods to it and finally traded it in 2010(should have kept it).kinda miss those winters on lake michigan, busting ice up to traverse city, getting stuck and waiting for the BIG MACK(USCG MACKINAW) to bust us out...enjoy your time at sea.

Well, for the next 10 months or so she will be sitting pretty parked in my parents driveway. The only exception to that is when I take leave and visit my family in August... I'll be driving her around (and possibly taking a road trip to Salt Lake City to visit a friend out there). But since she is my only vehicle, she fills almost all the items above. Her primary job is a daily driver that I can haul stuff in though.

Thanks man I do enjoy it. I have been employed as a Chief Engineer for Reinauer Trans for the last eight years out of NY. Before this it was the now defunct US Shipping Corp.

I made the change to tugs when we started having kids. Those 90 day trips that turn into 100+ and always getting called back early were too much for a family. Worked mainly on the Puget Sound run while with US Shipping. Some big storms up their!! Worst was 40' blowing a gale. Cracked the hull. Five days late to port. Wife was beside herself when I finally called her five days after I was supposed too. Now I just roam the harbors of the northeast US. Nice and cushy!

    It's simple:

    1. Keep my family safe
    2. Keep me on the road in hazardous weather
    3. Hunt ducks and geese
    4. Facilitate my home improvement needs
    5. Pull a light trailer on occassion
    6. Look pretty while doing all the above, IN THAT ORDER!
