Are Toyotas American Made?
What percent of the money goes to foreign countries compared to Chevy or Ford. Also, what do you say to the people that claim yotas are "shit" and asian cars? I think theyre the shit

Just don't let it bother you. It's a great truck and Toyota is a FAR superior company. Detroit did it to itself and I have no problem supporting a company that is well run.
This "jap scrap" will out run any "american" rig. If they can build something similar and still be profitable...we'll talk. I love parking next to my brother-in-laws' "made in the USA" trucks - it looks so much better!

I personally prefer imports. As far as small trucks, the big three cannot compete with what Toyota and Nissan have done. And for something quick, everything I'd be interested in owning is another import (WRX, STI, Evo, MS3, SI, Spec V, SE-R, ect.).
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate domestics, but I much prefer imports.

Many people are to blind and oblivious to acknowledge the greatness of Toyota and see how great their quality is and how great the vehicles are

+1 Well said. And even when they do realize it they refuse to believe it because they are "too patriotic" to support a foreign made vehicle.

Exactly right, I mean come on people, the Tacoma has soo much to offer and is fucking awesome but people wont give it a second glance, and the Tundra, Toyota out done themselves and everyone else in creating one great big Truck, everything outstanding on the Tundra compared to ford nissan and chevy

Basically, the majority of the money goes back to Japan. Some of it does stay in the US in the form of wages and vendor payments but the profits generally end up in Japan.
I have no problem with Toyota (duh, I own one) and if they're beating the domestics, so be it. It's called free market competition, something that unions and most liberal politicians don't agree with. The free market determines who survives and who fails, though lately government seems to be taking on that responsibility with our money. But whatever bad happens to domestic automakers, they did it to themselves. I wish them well because it could mean the loss of millions of jobs but in a truly free society there are winners and there are losers. |

^I find myself shopping locally more often now. What I mean is, I go to a butcher shop, fishmonger, and produce market, all locally owned with mostly local goods. I do what I can to support the local economy but phantom is right: there are so few American made products anymore, it seems.

I'm always reminded of the scene from Back to the Future, where Doc from 1955 looks at the computer component and says "made in Japan, no wonder it failed". There was a time when made in Japan = crap, made in America = quality. It's sad that companies that once prided themselves on quality started cutting corners to save a few bucks, but they should be the ones who are ashamed for becoming cheap and lazy, not you for refusing to buy a better product. Besides, the American vehicles are assembled in the US, but how many of the parts are built over seas?

As long as it isn't my tax money, I couldn't care less. And Japan was in a recession for the entire 1990's because of their bailout mania, not to mention the high inflation it caused, something you'd think the idiot politicians here would learn from.

Domestic Tacos are made here, so it helps the economy by providing jobs and supporting American companies sending parts to NUMMI, that is probably a bit more significant to most people (typical Americans) than the profits of Toyota USA that head to Japan..
Are any Toyota engines or transmissions made in the USA? |

Exactly, and how gaytarded is it for that American designer to have to spend company money to visit a plant outside the USA to see his designs come to life. |
