I had my windshield replaced by Safelite, $175. Tacoma windshields don't like rocks.

Definitely just bad luck. My dad's 1st gen has suffered 3 rock chips in the same windshield which he always got safelite to come fix ASAP, then one day a rock hit his windshield and safelite canceled the appointment, on a day which had a cold night and in the morning that thing had spidered across the windshield end to end.

I haven't sustained any significant chips thus far (knock on wood), besides a pebble hit here or there.

I had one repaired by Safelite

4 months later I have another rock chip

    Both are starting to crack

Good thing is that in Florida there is no deductible for windshield repairs

+1 on bad luck. I had my 07 for 6 years and only had 2 small rock chips in that time. 7 months in and none on my '13. Some big ass lifted ford peeled out in front of me the other day and sprayed me down pretty good with rocks; I thought for sure I was going to have some paint and windshield chips but nothing is visible yet. May find some the next time I wash the truck.

Don't tailgate people then! :p Jk. I've had amazing luck with windshields. It's called a ward in the magic world. My past two vehicles I have never taken a rock bad enough to crack the windshields. I've had a couple hit my windshield on my Tacoma but not severe enough to do any damage, just tiny pits.

Yep I have a 2012 and I hit a rock the other day the crack touches top bottom left and right side of my windshield. 1 rock did this. I did a safe-lite quote online and it was $350.

Mine had a chip just above the driver side wiper that had been repaired. One -20 morning last week, it just out of the blue, cracked from one side to the other, starting at said chip.

I'll get it replaced before I trade it in for a new one...

Inevitable. And frequency varies depending on where you live and work. I replaced mine a few months ago. Also added windshield coverage to my insurance for $6/month. One free replacement windshield per year if necessary. For $72 a yr. Worth it. And I checked to see if my ins 'directed' me on which type of windshield to use. Customer choice. Went w/Pilkington.

I've had so many run in with rock chips its not funny.
13 Silverado 5 chips all fixed by safelite then had a rock crack it. Called insurance they replaced it for free. I took it to a local body shop that is awesome they put a oem in.

One of them fixes was at work. On my way home the shit happened again.

13 tacoma (mine) got a chip in it had it replaced by same body shop. On the way home in wife's truck from dropping off mine bam hers gets nailed by one and call safelite to come fix it.

Thank god for Florida making insurance pay for it on full coverage

Forgot took the silverado to TN for vacation and driving through north Carolina had a rock fall off the side of a mountain and leave a chalk mark but no crack on the windshield. Scared the crap out of me and the wife

You guys, my 2013 have less than 4k miles.
I have it ever since June of 2013. So it hasn't been that LONG

I DONT TAILGATE with this truck, simply because i can't stop on time. And i KNOW for a fact if i tailgate, I'm gonna hit the guy in front of me. So i always keep at least 1 car distance.

BOTH TIME that it chip my windshield, there was NO CARS in front of me literally.
The 1st time, COMPLETELY NO CAR, just me driving down the highway
2nd Time, there was a car in front of me but he was at least 4 car distance away from me on the highway.

And i think the rock was still stuck in the windshield, it is a small ass rock, I'm not sure if it just broke after impacting my windshield or what.

But geez, this windshield crap and the brakes is got me really annoyed about having a Tacoma..... it is just a matter of time of moving on to a different vehicle....

Rocks hitting your windshield have nothing to do w/what kind of car or truck you drive. If it bounces properly off the asphalt, or is kicked up depending on the surface, you're screwed. Tacoma, Bentley, Limo, Pinto. Doesn't matter. And about the brakes. I'd get those checked. Rocks flying up at you might be your least concern if you can't stop properly.

I got quoted about $500 for OEM glass with moulding installed and this was from Toyota dealership and in Canada where everything is 30% more expensive.

I got 2 chips in my windshield within 3 months of purchase. This is crazy. At this point I think it has to do with the type of windshields Toyota is using.
