I see a lot of lift threads. I have no desire to lift my truck.

What is the deal with lifting them?

When I had a sports car, I could understand lowering it for looks, handling, and aerodynamics. Why the lift?

Same question for slamming a truck. I could understand if it was a sports car, but it's a truck... slamming it defeats the purpose of the truck. Now you can't do things that a truck should be able to do.

I'm trying to understand the logic. Educate me.

Ground clearance and/or weight capacity and fitting bigger tires. Look vs function is then the next question. Simple as that.

None at this time and that's just what I wanted a stock used truck to start with
I used to be guilty of this lifting my truck putting wheels and tires on and a sound system.....because it looked cool. Most of the time it made the truck ride like shit. Toyota spends millions and millions of dollars to design these truck to be the way they are stock And when you change this, it usaly makes the truck ride differently.

I actually like the look of some of the lifted trucks on here, but I just can't see myself driving a lifted mini truck with big tires. Same with dropping it. My last car was dropped but I bought the truck so I could drive a truck

Clearance and bigger tires. I enjoy driving off road and with my suspension lift, I am more capable.

Toyota also spent millions of dollars researching their rear leaf spring packs which suck

Thanks. This makes sense. If you're off-roading, I see how the lift and bigger tires would allow for going places the stock truck can't.

I get that different people like different things. Some like red, blue, black...

I guess it's like the pants around the ass. I'm older... it just looks fucking stupid to me. When my kid tried it I told him if he couldn't wear his pants on his waist to go get my staple gun.

Not judging, mind you. To each his own. Just want to be better educated on the thought process is all.

I don`t think you are a minority in your thoughts about a lift and big tires.
Never started a poll before but a good one (IMO) would be around the subject of why lift. Have a statement..please be honest, at the start..lol

I would guess 90% do it for looks alone.

I would like a lift on my new ride but am torn between the decision to lift with a couple of spacers and actually `doing it correct`.

In reality, living in Nebraska(not much for 4x4 terrain to play) and my wife being primary driver of the truck, a spacer front and rear would work just fine.

On the other hand, I spent 9 years in AZ and did a fair amount of wheeling there, and know the difference between a spacer lift, and one that would keep drive-train geometry correct. $250.00 vs $2,500.00

What is a person gaining by lifting their rig a couple of inches vs stock very little IMO....lots of show...

My truck is stock, in regards to running gear. I have some Dakar leaf springs just sitting, waiting to be put in so I have some lift in the back. Mainly for hauling things. I still have the wheels and tires that I got it with back in 2011. Waiting about a week to get some meatier tires. Just you wait...
