So we had a brief warm weather break in all this snow and i went to powerwash the salt off my truck (silver streak mica) and noticed hundreds of little rust looking spots that rubbed off with my finger and some waterless wash spray. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them. First light colored truck in the winter. Im thinking its rail dust or whatever they call it, or maybe salt treatment reaction residue? and needs a good claybar, wax and polish, which I would have done, but just got back from my deployment.

Yes rail dust, when warm get some ironX to get most of it off. Had it on my tan colored Jeep before.
    EDIT: It's ~$20

    Ironx is great stuff.
    Wash, Ironx, rinse, clay, wax.
(I'd suggest adding a tar remover step after wash and before Ironx.(I use Stoner's Tarminator))

Ironx sprays on as a clear liquid, then turns purple as it reacts/dissolves the rail/brake/iron dust. Simply spray it on your paint, let dwell for 5 minutes then thoroughly rinse.

As a pretty serious hobbyist detailer, I find that all vehicles benefit from an Ironx treatment, especially light colored vehicles. You'll probably be surprised at the amount of purplish bleeding, particularly on horizontal panels, tailgate and wheels.

On extremely contaminated vehicles, I will sometimes add a second Ironx application after claying...... wash, tar remover, Ironx, clay, Ironx and wax.
