Ok I have had my truck now for about a year and a half. I have 103k on it and sometimes I get a shutter when it changes gears. I have had all other fluids changed out and went to do the tranny and they gave me the "lifetime fluid" speech. I have read things on here going back and forth about whether you should replace the fluid or not. My dealership has the nice machine that completely flushes out the tranny and doesnt just drain and fill. What is everyones opinion?

I wouldnt hesitate to flush all the fluid out .
To eliminate the possibility of moving particles of debris into the valve body when you do the flush, remove the transmission pan first and inspect the magnets in the bottom of the pan as well as removing the filter and giving it a good cleaning . This will give you an indication of wether it should be flushed or not .
DO NOT FLUSH WITHOUT REMOVING PAN AND SCREEN FILTER .
Yes , newer transmissions have come a long way . Mechanical shifting spool valves that use to stroke mechanically have been replaced with shift solenoids . Shift solenoids have a large bore and are less prone to sticking , however there are still a bunch of mechanical stroking valves in the valve body that can bind up .
A good quality flushing machine has the ability to flush the transmission with the pan and filter left off , thus removing the junk laying in the bottom of the pan and filter from flushing through the system , using a cooler line machine without following this procedure could lead to issues.

You have to keep in mind that you have a lift kit installed . Are you sure the lift isnt the issue .
Are you trying to fix a shudder by replacing the fluid ?
With 106K on the truck , are you sure the fluid has never been overheated ?
Have you owned since new ?
Transmission fluid turns to acid as it ages because of fluid break down .
Get it out of there as soon as you can .

I am going to call them and make sure that they remove the pan and filter. I would think for the $240 price tag they would do that. At least I hope so.

Thats actually a very good deal for whats involved and if they remove the pan .
I would NOT let them do it without removing the pan and filter .
Test drive hopefully with tech Stream hooked up .
Hoist truck , remove trans pan and filter . Clean the filter pan magnets and pan and re-install .
Minimum 10 quarts of World Standard fluid .
Fill transmission using the tech stream to verify proper fluid level and re-road test to verify proper operation .

I worked at an oil change shop in high school. We did this service for $100. Granted that was in the late 90's but can prices have really gone up that much? We'd drop the pan and filter, clean the pan and magnet, hook up a tube to the hole where the filter goes and then start the vehicle. The hydraulic pump in the transmission would suck up clean fluid from the reservoir in the machine and flush the tranny... Then we'd put a new filter in and reinstall the pan and top off the fluid, run it through the gears, and check/top it off again.

I would do a full flush thru the cooler lines like the sticky says,, remember there's no filter on these tranny's, so there's no benefit to dropping the pan. Had mine done at 90k an took about 14q of ws fluid, no probs since an that's almost 20k ago

I had mine done at 95,000 at the dealership. When I went back to get my truck they had a sample of my fluid and some new fluid and asked me to pick out the fluid that came out of my truck, after looking for a minute or two I was able to pick it out but there wasn't much difference. My truck isn't lifted but I do tow a trailer with two quads a lot for 4500 feet to 9000 feet on a regular basis. My offroading isn't much till hunting season. I will probably not do it again until I reach close to 200,000. I wasn't having any issues with my tranny when I had it done I just thought it was time.

That's a good way to ruin a transmission.

I wouldnt base an opinion of flushing new fluid through transmission cooling lines to be a good idea without dropping the pan first .
The OP has a shift issue and is trying to fix it by replacing the fluid . If the pan is clean , there is a possibilty new transmission fluid could fix the problem . If he is going on the assumption that the original fluid has lost its co-efficient of friction due to breakdown , there may be some hope .WS fluid I must say has a very high heat tolerance for a basic Dino blend .
Not everybody drives the same , not every transmission wears the same or has been subjected to the same heat / conditions .
I have seen transmissions packed with alluminum using the same type of filter the A750E uses and the magnets full of steel , yet still function fine . Would you be willing to risk dislodging that metal through the valve body and solenoids ?
I still suggest removing the pan and filter before flushing the transmission

Ive been wondering what a dealership flush costs ?
Seems most of them only drop the oil from the pan and re-fill .
I dont think $100 bucks would cover the WS fluid now .
Hoisting the truck ,New pan gasket , filter , connecting the Tech stream scanner and a road test , plus labour to pay the employee .

It will cost you about 300.

I would get it changed. The fluid is designed to last 100K, not 200K. Flush costs roughly 300. New transmission cost 2-3K (guessing).

I've never read a post on here that said "I'm at 250K miles and never performed routine maintenance on my truck."
