Anyone have any experience with this:
    http://www.partsengine.ca/product/TrailFX-6-Oval-Black-Powder-Coated-Steel-Straight-Side-Bar

    or this:
    http://www.partsengine.ca/product/U-Guard-Avion-6-Aluminum-Running-Boards

My 6-year old daughter has a helluva job getting in my truck. She has to lean on the sill and pull herself into the truck. I don't even know if running boards or side bar is the solution. So I am certainly open to suggestions. I'm looking for a cheap fix, as the only purpose for this is to help her get in to the truck. And some protection from parking lot idiots would be nice!! Thanks.

You can't lift a six year old? Just pick her up and put her in her seat...it's free, and you might even burn a calorie or two.

Listen asshole. First of all even though this is none of your fucking business I'll enlighten you. Here are just a couple of reasons why I would want this:

1: I drop my child off and pick my child up at school. The crossing guard opens the door of the vehicle so the child can enter or leave the vehicle. The driver is not allowed out of the vehicle. Keeps traffic flowing.

    2. I would rather my child do things herself than having Mommy or Daddy do everything for them.

Need anymore reasons? If you can't give a useful answer stay out of the fucking thread you presumptuous prick.

I've gotten plenty of help here already thank you. However certainly not from people like yourself who post in a thread but have nothing useful to say.

You said you wanted a cheap way to get your kid in and out of the truck...my suggestion fits the criteria you outlined in the first post by about 100%.

You're the one who flew into a fit of rage...

Then you are suggesting you post was on jest? If that is the case then I send my humblest apologies your way. However your suggestion does not fit the criteria 100%. It doesn't protect from parking lot idiots. So, have you any idea whether the linked items would fit ALL criteria outlined? :)

eh lay off the OP.. find another post... as far as the steps never used either one.. but with steps w/ the Tacoma they are a pain in the butt for yourself to get in an out.. do you do any off-roading?.. if you do I would look at sliders w/ a kick-out better as a step since they don't have to be right up against the truck

I don't off road, but have looked at sliders somewhat, but haven't seen them with kick out. Will Google that a bit.

I didn't think about the steps being a pain in the butt to me. Makes sense though.

    Thanks.

Is your truck lifted? If so, the steps/sliders still might not be much help. You'd probably need a step attached to the slider. As far as protection from door dings and other drivers in parking lots, I'm not sure they're much help there either. Stand back behind your truck with the door open and envision what part of the door would strike another vehicle first. Then visualize how far a bar would have to come out to stop any contact. With that said, I think the N-Fab wheel to wheel bar might be the best option. Good luck.

I wouldn't want some smartass golden retriever coming in my thread either, lol :D

But seriously, you mineswell look into sliders. If you factor in the price of them, it really just makes much more since to invest in some kickass steps that double as rock protection in the event you do find yourself wanting to do a little offroading. You can always get bolt on versions for easier installation if you dont weld or have access to a welding shop. Most of the stronger bolt on sliders have a rail that also sits flush with the under side of the frame so you can drill holes and put bolts through those for extra strength. Not sure what is available in Canada though.

Aside from that, sliders look better, and warrant good protection against small cars slinging their doors open and hitting yours.
