I'm looking at an 06 prerunner sport with 109k miles with an automatic. Is there anything in particular I should be paying attention to when I go to look at it in reference to the high mileage or transmission? Any known problems?

109k miles isn't " High Mileage " in a Tacoma. That is just broken in good.

The Frame Rust shouldn't be an issue in Florida as long as they didn't regularly dunk it in the ocean. I would look under to see what the frame looks like. It may have come from the frozen wasteland where they use tons of salt on the road.

I bought a 2005 prerunner DCLB a little over a year ago with 106,000 miles; so similar to the one you're looking at. I took it to a transmission shop before I bought it and they said the transmission looked good. (He also said he almost never sees Tacomas with transmission problems)

I had to replace a front wheel bearings at 115,000. From what I read here on TW, its sort of common. If you can, maybe check those. To check them you'll need to lift the front end. Once in the air, grab the top of the tire and pull towards you. If the tire moves back and forth when you do this, the wheel bearing needs to be replaced. If they need replacement, I think I paid about $600 but I could be off a bit. If you want to do it yourself, there are two TW members that sell a complete replacement kit.

Other than that and checking for frame rust like Hawkeye888 said, I don't know of anything to look for.

Thanks guys. The truck spent the majority of its life in Arizona. Not much time in Florida so maybe the frame rust won't be an issue.

Arizona is a good thing. I don't think they have rust there! :)
