Its been 4 years on the stock shocks and a 3" AAL in the back. Yeah they topped out alot over the years. Just ordered a set of 5100's from down south motorsports. I guess I'll have to figure out a brake line solution as well as a bump stop riser. I have heard there is a brake line spacer trick i can do. For the bump stop I am considering using an old 1" lift block I have and putting that under the bump stop.

There is a nut like protrusion between the bump and top leaf that u will have to make a hole for in ur block.

I've killed three sets in three years, with nothing more than a 1" block and an extra leaf. I figure they bust when I top out...

I got a set of the longer 5100s for 200 shipped to canada so I don't think I'll have that loud bang when i top out anymore!

Unfortunately this is usually the end result when you lift your truck and neglect to buy longer shocks. Your truck will perform much better along with a much improved ride with better longer shocks designed for a raised suspension.

Why not use a hockey puck for your bump stop?

So the collapsed length is the same on the bilsteins and I get another 4 inches of travel on the full droop. I had to shim about of inch on the brake line mount, which I lucked out and had the right bolt in my parts drawer today. Im not extending the bump stop since i already have an AAL in there which adds 1/2".
Decided to dissect the shock that was busted. It didn't extend when i compressed it and was banging pretty good during driving. The passenger side shock was fine.

Timely that I stumbled upon this thread....Today while under my truck changing fluids, luring the driveshaft and doing a general inspection I discovered that the boots on both of my Billy 5100's are torn. I have thought that my ride has been harsher lately and wrote it off to the brutal state of our roads here in the NorthEast. I'm lifted with an AAAL in the rear and bought the longer travel shocks around 80k kms ago and wonder what the expected lifespan should be.....?

Shocks usually last anywhere from 50k mikes to 70k miles but honestly it depends on where you drive them and how you use your truck.
