I just can't do it anymore. The stupidest thing I have ever seen in a vehicle, and it's part of my tacoma.

I've read plenty of threads on the fresh air recirc button. If you don't want fresh air, push the button for more than three seconds. And do this every freaking time you get in the truck! Are you kidding me!?? Gee what a great fix to a problem that doesn't need to exist in the first place.

From the research I have done it appears that the operation can't be reprogrammed. Somebody please direct me to thread where the solution is not repeatedly pushing the button.

Can the servo be re-wired directly to the button?

Where is the servo? Is it drivers side or pass? Both?

I do most driving in suburbs on freeways. The temp and humidity might suggest fresh air would be a good idea... but the computer does not monitor exhaust fumes or any other pollutant that I don't really want to be breathing! Duh, come on Toyota.

I'm a little confused here. I just press my recirculate button to turn it on or off. What's this holding it for 3 seconds?

When there is an imbalance in the inside and outside air temp, the truck will override the recirculation and turn it off to prevent window fogging. Holding it for 3 seconds overrides... the override... until you turn the truck off.

The light turns off, IIRC. It's only ever happened to me driving up to Utah, I thought I was going crazy at first because I was sure I had just turned it on.

There's always 20% fresh air entering the cabin to prevent a lack of oxygen.

Recirc button closes the air intake door 80%. Not like you're actually shutting off outside air.

With the recirc on you're still breathing all those exhaust fumes. If it was an air tight system you'd pass out from lack of oxygen on your way to work.

OK, so I want to be an idiot and breath 80% more? Great! :smack:

Not to mention I work from the house. I only pass out if I drank too much the night before...

ah, this gives me an idea... second one I've ever had, very cool.

    I just watched this video...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsrAP8EgcbQ

Some of the respondents to this thread should probably avoid this video at all costs. It requires a BRAIN to figure it out.

In my case the fresh air is almost always automatically on, and for the most part I want it off. Why couldn't I pull the servo power connector, pull the pins from the connector housing and re-install in reverse location? Then the servo travel distances should be the same, and the controller would think it was opening the damper when it was actually closing it. Pushing the dash button would then get you fresh air when you want it....

    Not perfect but plausible.
