Had a friend of mine look into the driveline shudder on takeoff when he was performing the service on my (recently out of warranty) '09 Dbl cab. He found the slip yoke was worn and informed me of the (US) T-SB-0016-13.

I brought it to the dealer today at first was told I was S.O.L. But went out for a drive with their tech who said they could 'see what they can do for me' once they can have a closer look at the problem.

Stay tuned and hope this doesn't burn a big hole in my wallet (new driveshaft from Toyota quoted at $1700 CDN)

The new driveshaft Toyota replaced for me was somewhere in that $1800 mark, so your not far off. Hopefully it doesn't go to that extent for you.

I went to Kelowna Toyota on Saturday to book an appointment for my vibrations on takeoff as well as cruising around 75km/h.

The lady's attitude at the service desk totally rubbed me the wrong way. Everything she said basically made me feel like I was arguing with her.

First asked if I was lifted. I said yes, with the OEM TRD Baja. She asked who installed it and I said a different shop, she said you may have to return the truck to stock before they will look at the vibration. I mentioned a new TSB that came out in Feb and she said that was for the US and doesn't apply to Canada! Anyway, it went on from there but needless to say, I wasn't impressed with her negative attitude!

I was going to install my Wheeler's AAL's this weekend, but decided to wait until after it gets looked at.

My appointment is booked for June 13th so we'll see what happens.

    Cheers,

    Jay

So, after having the first dealer 'diagnose' the problem to prove that I need the TSB-008-14 done and I would have to pay for it (only $2300). (This was the same dealer that told me US TSBs weren't applicable to my Canadian spec truck - hmmm). So, hoping for a better answer, I took it back to the dealer I purchased it from and asked for their 'participation' in the repair diagnosed by the other dealership. Today they submitted a claim to Toyota Canada to cover the cost of the TSB repair. They said between 1-3 weeks to get a response. Fingers crossed!

The TSB says, if vibration confirmed, do the entire TSB. If the mount is done, then the springs have to be replaced to match the angle measurement.
Are all dealers doing it piece by piece to see if it fixes it?

yes because performing a TSB is like doing homework for Toyota corp.

do each part step by step and report results. move to next step till problem resolved or submit to Toyota as 'doesn't work'

    1) confirm vibe

    2) drop prop shaft

    3) confirm vibe is gone

    4) install new mount and steering damper

    5) check vibe, if still present then do angle measurement and correct leafs

I have the same issues as TSB 0229-12 and this TSI is the Canadian version as far as I can see. My question is how much do you all think my 3" OME lift with Dakkars in the rear will affect the TSI? it says something about shimming the leafs but mine aren't stock, and already have the Toytec 3 degree shims. I just don't want to get screwed again by Toyota for having a lifted truck...
