I've been looking at winches recently and just wondering what others are using. I've always like the Warn winches, but there seem to be some other options out there. I will prob. only be using it once every 3 or 4 weeks, or if a situation arises. I've seen some good smittybilt and superwinch winches, and am just wondering if they would be be ok or should i just get a warn? opinions appreciated.

Warn Upright, can't go wrong! they are bigger in size but way better, way faster and more durable than worm gear winches, i used to toss the hook across a ravine and hit the switch, drop my bronco into the ravine and drag it up to other side never missed a beat! also would toss the hook up a tree to lift the bronco up to work on it, lol! (it was a 10,000lb on a bronco II)

    min i would get

I have been running a Badlands 12k lb. winch from Harbor Freight for about three years now with zero issues and it get used all year round to recue people. Only downside is it only has one speed but not an issue for me. It's on my highly modified soon to be V8's and SAS'd '03 Ford Sport Trac.

I've actually heard really good things about that one. I've seen it in use once to pull out a tacoma and in seemed to work great. When the time comes for me to purchase a winch I'll probably go with the badlands too.

How do you like it? I'm eyeballing it right now. haha I think it would cost about the same for me to get the universal mounting one that comes with the cradle and wiring than buy a cheaper winch and then the cradle and wiring for it.
