    Oh boy...
all i can say is im no longer going to purchase python. i know i saw a guy in a previous post said he is getting python. hopefully they and others will have a better experience. as far as the quality of the product.... piss poor. Their key fobs are cheap thin plastic and i have only had it for a year and its totally busted up. only thing thats holding it together is superglue. average use and its totally falling apart on a monthly basis. next alarm is going to be viper for sure. everyone i see with viper --- fobs and alarms are still holding up and running strong years after install.

    just my 2 cents

I also forgot to say. I sat my keys on my rear bumper and washed my truck. The fob was totally soaked and it still works.

I am having BestBuy add a relay to the door pin, per this forum (thanks gumbeyyy).

I like this feature on my Viper 5806v: After remote start, I can enter the truck, put the key in, and turn it three clicks to the right (running) without touching the brake. The engine keeps running. Works great.

Remote starts are bad news. I've removed many of them for malfunctions. Aftermarket ones rarely work well. A lot of the time it is the installation. But the silly little modules can also be the culprit for major vehicle malfunctions.

BestBuy made good on wiring a relay to the door pin exactly like you suggested, gumbeyyy. Thanks for the information. :)

My viper 5901 is ok. Great remote distance, cool remote display. Remote start doesn't work sometimes. I need my crank time adjusted.

1.5" Wheel spacers all around, 2.0 fox coil over with foxes in the back to match it up, add a leaf. 285/70/r16 general grabbers. my magnaflow exhaust k&n intake just threw in some maxtrac spindles. Total chaos UPA. Bunch of other little things
Viper. 5706 best way to go

Dylon I swear our trucks are set up the same shocks, uca, spindle alarm ha

Hey they sometimes make that weird noise that it didn't start when really it does start up so be carful. also make sure your lights are off if not when u start up with the remote then shut it off w/o opening the driver door yours headlights stay on say bye to your battery. Unless u install a timed light that shuts off for you. I like to run my lights all the time . Great remote comes with like 8 colors easy to work. 100yard working distance, it's a bad ass remote start. Also a great alarm

That's because ppl buy garbage or they are installed by morons, usually both.

I've had at least 15 trouble free years w compustar and DEI over three trucks and two cars...

On topic: buy DEI / viper w smart start or compustar. No hassles, dead batteries or hiccups if installed properly.

ive been running remote starts since the late 90's. proper installs negate issues. hell i even hate a remote start put into a manual back then but the liability was on us.

currently running a compustar 2-way 9000 series on the 12 tacoma. have not had an issue in the 2yrs its been installed.

looking to get a drone mobile on the 14 4runner this summer when demand for them go down.

Guys thanks for all the suggestions...I'm looking into this for a 2015 4 runner....my understanding is the factory one sucks? Not to mention costs $499-$699. Can anyone confirm....also...what aftermarket remote starts have phone controls so you can start from anywhere?

    Anyone got this

Looks like what I'm looking for!

I thought about purchasing the smartstart, but didn't want to have to buy a remote start as well as this unit. Then on top of it to use the smartstart to its full features, you have to pay a monthly membership. I am perfectly happy with mine without the smart start. Just my $.02.

Also from the website, you have to purchase one of these systems as well for the unit to work:

    Compatible Viper Systems

    Security + Remote Start Systems: 5906, 5904, 5806, 5706, 5704, 5606, 5204, 5104.

    Remote Start Systems: 4806, 4706, 4704, 4606, 4205, 4204, 4203, 4105, 4104, 4103.

You might be correct. The website is a little misleading. Looks like you can either buy this unit as a whole, or if you ha e an older model they can be compatible. This was another review I found on crutchfield:

WILLIAM L: Likely if your car is year 2000 or newer you'll need a key transponder ($50-$100) to interrupt the ignition computer's key resistor code. You'll probably also need an alarm interrupt and cable harness adapter ($20-$50) to adapt to your specific car model. The good news is that when I bought mine from Crutchfield they threw these in for me for free after purchase. I took mine to a car audio place to have it installed for $150, the same price you'll get if you go to the chain electronics store. My installer had no issues getting it in, but it did take them about 4hrs for their very experienced technician, so keep that in mind.

Also, if you want the ability to remote start from anywhere this system used basically encrypted text messages to do it, so they sell a service plan. I bought the 3yr plan for $140. Otherwise you're limited to Bluetooth when using your phone. The service plan also provides limited roadside assistance which is nice.

The install fee will be the same whether you get this or your other choice, and Viper's service plan price is on par with other manufacturers that have remote starter.
Note that this kit only comes with one keychain fob. You can get additional ones from Viper, not sure the price.

Remote start only? If you want alarm also, go with vipor 5706v. About 600 or so installed.
