By the time I get some responses to this thread, it may be too late and I may have already ordered the cap but what do you guys think? I just ordered a 2014 Tacoma DCLB in blue ribbon metallic with the sport package and I'm now deciding on a cap. I think functionally the two styles are pretty close but which do you all like better, the CX series or the Overland series?

Personally I'm leaning towards the Overland series because I think the spray on two-tone coating make the cap look a little bit more sporty. I think the prices are fairly similar too so in this case, it's mostly a choice based on aesthetics. Thoughts or opinions for those of you who own or who have looked at the ARE caps?

Depends on what you plan to do with it.

CX is stronger and will support roof racks and Roof top tents.

OK, good info and thanks a lot. I had actually originally intended to mount a Yakima system on it and use it for a rooftop tent but I think I'm now leaning towards mounting the RTT on the truck's roof rack and just using the cap as a cover to keep my cargo dry. I'll mention this info to my wife as well as we haven't ordered the cap yet but will be soon.

Based on just looks alone, I'd go with the CX series.

Ranch cap w/ rhinorack bars, 5100s, Deaver AAL, 2” front receiver, Matt Gecko bedlights, yadda yadda…
FWIW the ARE guy near me steered me away from the overland because he said the black fades and cracks over time. I ended up buying a Ranch cap for half of what they want for an ARE.

Thanks for the info. I'd really like to get a cap, but I dont know if I can justify spending that for one.

I ordered a new CX May 1st for my 14 Taco for around $1600. It will be in around the middle of May. I'll post an intro tomorrow when I've got time.
