So I was checking tire pressure on my spare and I find a lock around my spare. Glad I noticed it before I had flat in the middle of the night....I didn't even bother to bring it back to the dealer and just cut it off.

We had a similar problem on my wife's outback brand new, came with wheel locks but no key to be found anywhere...

Wow, I wounder why they did that
wheel locks I can see them forgetting to give up the key but that looks like a bike lock

If it was there overnight they probably put it on to prevent the spare from being stolen. I hear that is quite prevalent.

I know they brought it over from another dealer, so I guess they had a few spares stolen before...however looks like no one checks over a car before they hand it over to a customer anymore. Picked it up beginning of November

Spare tire lock is an option for the Tacoma...

That cable lock isn't. The spare tire lock is a keyway fit into the winch for the spare tire. The key snaps onto the extension of the jack handle.

Guess that's why I carry bolt cutters with me all the time.
