^^^^^ Unless you are being purposefully dense that is 1.5 feet a day. That's a good amount. The most I have seen is 4 feet in just under 36 hours. I have seen it snow harder but not sustained.

A few posts popped up before my reply.

I didn't mean you. I just took the lazy way out and didn't quote the poster I was talking to and then a bunch of people posted in between.

Or maybe you figured that and were being purposefully dense????? Now I'm confused.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
It's weather channel naming them. I call this one Thursday storm. Last week we had Monday and Wednesday storms. :D
Looking at getting ATV out to plow. Not sure why I always get a foot of snow and more. I would take South Carolina 3 inches of snow once every 100 years any time. Lucky bastards. :p

most was back on 2010, 27" in about 36-48 hours. my taco couldn't even get off the street until a larger truck pushed some snow down. tires weren't great either.

before that it was the "blizzard" of '93. fun year, I remember sledding down my street and making jumps with all the snow :)

We get these nasty beggars called "upslopes" in the Denver area. The phenomenon only really hits the Denver area, go up north 60 miles, just a little bit of snow. Go south 60 miles, just a little bit of snow. Meanwhile, maybe 24"-48" of snow in the Denver area and the foothills.

What happens is a low pressure sets up in New Mexico and drags moisture in from the Gulf of Mexico, and at the same time a high pressure sets up in Wyoming and brings in the frigid Canadian air. One moves counter-clockwise, the other clockwise. I've seen 48" in 24 hours. 36", 28", 24", 40", 27", 28", that's just in the past 10 years.

The worst place I lived for howling blizzards was the UP of Michigan, we'd see 30 foot snow drifts at times on the side of the house downwind, from the roof on down. I'm sure places in Canada are the same, the Northern plains, NY with the lake effect blizzards.

My old '97 4WD did well in those Denver blizzards, the 2012 hasn't got much of a workout, although it did well with the stock Dunlops in a blizzard in PA when we traveled there for Xmas 2012.

The '97 was the first vehicle out of the neighborhood for the 48-incher, my neighbor broke the trail with his Chevy 3/4 ton and chains on all four wheels, then lost two chains trying to get over the snow plow hump at the main road, backed down the hill then I busted through the hump after a couple runs at it.

The 36-incher Christmas Day 2010 I was the first out of the neighborhood with the '97, I had to be to work at 0700 and my neighbor the nurse had to get to work also. That was pretty rough, took me three tries up the hill to bust a trail with the BFG AT KO's, then a final push through the snowplow hump. Had a hard time pushing through the South Platte river crossing also, they had plowed that maybe once, probably 24" still, I had a good run at it going downhill and downshifted to 2nd and floored it, barely made it through. Good times . . . . .
