I built a bolt in tire carrier today. Uses the bed mounting bolts and can be removed in a few minutes. Only spent about $70 for material. Let me know what you think. Sorry for the crappy pics. Will try to get some better shots tomorrow.

Nice job, similar to a design I have except the bottom rotated up allowing tire to sit on tailgate down for bed space access when needed.

Thanks guys. Was trying to keep it simple. It holds the tire very secure with the lug nuts. Was going to use a Y-strap, but it would have doubled the cost. I used my buddies new JD Squared bender he just got.

It would. I thought about doing it that way, but like the look of it angled a little. The top of the tire is flush with the bed rail. Didn't want it sticking up to high and block the rear view mirror.

Thanks. I have wanted something like this for a while. Still have plenty of room for all my camping gear and stuff like that. Might be a little big for a short bed.

Thats what I was going to do originally, until my buddy bought a bender and notcher. This cost me the same as a Y-strap. And with wheel locks it will take a lot of work for someone to make off with my spare. I also drilled a hole in one of the bed bolts so I can pad lock it from under the bed. That way you can't just unbolt the mount easily.

Here are some better pics. Painted it yesterday. Very happy with how it turned out. Top of the tire is flush with the top of the bed so it doesn't stick up in the rearview.
