Thumbs up 2.7L Auto. Milage on new 07 4x2 Access Cab

Well I'm just past half way through my second tank or gas on my newTacoma and so far I'm loving the milage.

First tank I refilled at 416 miles kinda close to E but not close enough.
I refueled and put in 17.3 gallons, for for my first tank I got 24+ miles per gallon, brand new fresh off the lot. NICE!

I've been watching this next tank and tracked it from center of Full line center of 1/4 tank line. Went 147.7 miles on approx 5.25 gallons (based on the gauge markings and tank capacity) thus giving me 28.1333333... miles per gallon. WHOOHOO!

Still in the break in period too! Better yet is the engine keeps building power
and torque day by day as it breaks in more and more. I LOVE my new truck!

Window sticker says "For comparison Shopping, all vehicles classified as Std. Pickup have been issued mileage ratings ranging from 9 to 24 mph city and 13 to 29 mpg highway" So since day one, I'm right on track!

I dont tow anything, I just haul my big butt to and from the gym, work, groceries and Home Depot often.
About 75 city/ 25 highwy driving.

Just sharing!

- Mike

nice mpg's. i just posted a reply to another message stating that i get about 20 mpg in heavy traffic and with steep uphill driving. when i hit mostly freeway, or little stop and go i can get 24-26 mpg. i have a 2.7L automatic. these trucks are really good, though they get crap for not being fast. I've cracked 10 sec on 0-60 with this truck, which is not racing speed but it's good enough to enter freeways quickly or pass up slow cars quickly.

Usually fuel economy starts off around 20 MPG and works up from there on the 2.7L's. Starting off at 24 MPG is great. Congrats! The 2.7L automatics will probably get better gas mileage than the manuals. Toyota is better at making an automatic than a manual transmission.

Thanks guys.

I waiting for my bed cover to arrive before taking long highway trips.
I can feel the drag with an open bed and sometimes wind gusts make it do
funny things. My old Mada B2500 did that too when the cover was off.

Small world. I traded in a '97 B2300 for my Tacoma. The difference is like night and day between those two trucks.

Yeah, small world!

My Mazda, still in great shape but with 185k miles, shes feeling her age.
Evene though she had a stick trans, the Tacoma blows the doors off the Mazda is size, luxury, amedities, power, performance and sexyness.

Selling my old Mazda to my friend Dave who wants a smaller truck to
replace his 1992 F150. He gets 12 mpg if hes lucky in that thing. :P

Last fill-up I think I might of hit 17mpg. Damn magnaflow exhaust, I love to hear it in the upper RPMs.

I have a 2006 Access cab with the V6 and the best mileage I've gotten over a period of 20k is 24mpg. I can get this by keeping my rpm's less then 2000 as much as possible. Recently I hooked up a 3000 pound travel trailer and was able to still do 20mpg, this however will vary depending on headwind, hills etc. and has been as low as 10mpg. Overall i'm happy having driven a 1992 Ford F250 with a 5.0 302 engine, without a tow vehicle I used to get at best 15mpg, then with a 6000 pound trailer it used to drop to 8-10mpg. I added a Undercover bed cover which I could not be more happy with, no difference in mpg after 10k with the cover. It does make for a secure trunk area. Biggest tip I can suggest is to watch your RPM and keep them below 2000. My truck is an AUTO trans by the way.

Gas Milegae on 2.7 Standard.....

Just took a 500 mile trip to KY, averaged 65-70 MPH. I got 29,29 and 27MPG. I have about 4800 miles, did get a flat on the way back which was my 27MPG.
