so when I wash my truck it leaks right above the passenger floorboard. I don't know if it originates here or not but the drip is coming from some cylindrical thing right behind/below the glove box (pictured). It drips for a few minutes then stops. Anyone had this problem before or might know what is causing it??

That's the blower housing. Guessing you're somehow spraying water into the cabin fresh air intake vent in the cowl, it's soaking through the filter and coming in.

so could it be from this? it's pretty much right on the other side of the blower housing... I didn't want to squirt water in it and find out it's something else lol. it's slightly angled down and I did use the undercarriage wash so I'm thinking this is a good possibility. either way, what the hell is this thing?

Are you washing under the hood? The intake for the HVAC is just under the windshield on the passenger side. You may be spraying water into there.

the only water getting under the hood is from the undercarriage wash in the automatic car wash. I just hand washed it today and sprayed tons of water on the windshield/hood and no leak. gotta be coming in from the bottom. that little 3 inch piece of rubber hose has really got me wondering...

Here's an update on the situation, you all might want to keep an eye out for this!
It's a leak coming from the cowl (plastic piece running along the exterior of the windshield) which needs replaced.. for $400 effin dollars! Pissed me off that the extended warranty that I paid for doesn't cover it since it is "body and trim". Anyways, there is a TSB out for it-- http://www.tacomahq.com/1864/toyota-tacoma-cowl-water-leak-tsb/

I had that piece replaced last year, courtesy of the dealer.

The servive guy commented that he had seen this before.

Hopefully problem stays fixed, have not had any issues since.

But I don't believe I had any leakage, but the seal at the bottom of the windshield was loose.

Just had my cowl replaced at the dealer. Luckily they did it for free because I was there two weeks before for a clogged drain hose from the ac. I argued that they pitched the rubber seal on the cowl when they put it back together after fixing the drain hose. So they fixed it.
If your seal is pinched where it meets the windshield , you can always remove it and try to heat it with a heat gun to repair the section that isn't sealing against the windshield.

Getting mine fixed today, I wish it was at the courtesy of the dealer considering my extended warrenty but looks like I will be out of $400. Oh well, better than have a flooded truck!
