So I was wondering everyone's opinions on the looks of the OEM rack vs the Yakima rack. I always wanted the OEM since I bought my Tacoma just never found one until now. I have a guy willing to trade rack for rack. What do you think? I also am not needing my snowboard racks any longer since I'm moving to Mississippi so the weight different doesn't matter. Thanks!! None at this time and that's just what I wanted a stock used truck to start with
I do not care for the factory rack. It looks bulky and lacks style. I like after market as far as looks are concerned.

I notice it's a lot shorter and I should be able to fit in the garage again.

I like my OEM roof rack. Imo it looks better and you can get one pretty inexpensively. I found one for 222 plus tax at a dealer in Atlanta. I haven't used it yet for anything of importance but it will be used soon.

I like the OEM rack and use it for a 14.5 foot canoe. It has two things that I like:
    1. It is always "there" and I do not have to take the time to install when needed.
    2. When not needed the brackets fold up out of the way for a clean look and low air resistance (low noise too)

    No...

But that said I loved the rack on my 2011 when I had it. Check Amazon often. I bought one for right at $200 with free shipping and it is extremely easy to install. FWIW I left the bars open all the time (even though it says not to?). No wind noise but I also have MT tires on my truck so I couldn't hear it if I wanted too.

As far as looks, OEM racks remind me the top of Jason Alexander's head.

Moving to Mississippi, no schitt? Where 'bouts? I live on the coast, west side.

For racks, neither of those. Love my BajaRack.

I've had them both, stock rack on my '07 and a Yakima system on my '10. Actually if you check my pics you will see a Yakima system attached to a factory system. Heres my impressions...

    Stock rack Pros..

    Factory fit and finish
    Easy installation
    High quality construction
    Stowable when not in use
    Secure

    Cons

    No adjustability front to rear
    Accessories must be adapted
    Loud when deployed(no fairing option)

    Yakima Pros

Adjustable rear bar front to back
    Attachments galore
Fairing option(quiets things down, looks great)

    Cons

Don't love the idea of the clips making contact with paint.
    Easier to steal

    Both great systems..Just my $.02

go for an OEM rack... its much better for my personal use and i really like the look of it when compaired to a yakima or any other aftermarket equivalent. Install is also a breeze
