i just bought my first tacoma. it seemed like a really good deal to pass up. its a 2006 extended cab 4X4 4.0L V6 Manuel 6 speed with 82000 miles. i was trying to figure out if it had the off road package or not. I think it has the tow package since it has the tow hitch receiver. what should i be looking for? Thanks!

Do you have a button to the left of the steering wheel that says 'RR diff lock'?

unless the previous owner took the stickers off you would see TRD Off road on the bed sides. otherwise look at the rear axel for the factory rear locker. as far as the tow package, the hitch isn't just part of the package you need to look to see if you have a transmission cooler located in front of the radiator/fan assembly right behind the bumper

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
X2, the eLocker is the best surest way to tell. Although it was available on special order it is the telltale sign of a TRD package. There were also yellow color "Toyota" Bilstien shocks, but those could have been changed out already at that mileage it is likely.

he was asking if he had, not saying he bought one with but didn't find.

depends on the price it sounds like you bought an SR5 model. still capable and when you save the money you can add things yourself later on depending on needs/wants :D

Does your vehicle registration say it's a TRD?

Yeah, I personally think you're lucky. If I had to do over I definitely would not have gotten the TRD package. Ended up upgrading/changing out most of it anyway over the years (better suspension, new hitch/rear bumper). And what remains I really don't use, like an electrical outlet in my truck bed (it is quite a curious novelty but not much use to me).

Well, the TRD stickers are cool I guess.

What I am saying is that the SR5 standard package is a good one and leaves you a lot of nice amenities and capability with room for nice upgrades without the pain of upgrading upgraded components you already paid for.

Also, the seats have a perforated fabric down the middle of the seat and cushion. The have a more sporty feel to them. I had a DC longbed sr5 non trd prerunner before. Current, is a AC prerunner trd

Off the top of my head:
    -seats
    -compass overhead
    -suspension
    -decals
    -rr locker
    -bed outlet
    -higher output alternator
    -tranny cooler

yeah i mean it was 16000$ which for the condition i thought was good i was in a desperate hurry to get a tacoma if it had a tow or off road package it was a bonus. i will just add on upgrades anyway.

    Registration does not say trd..

That was my exact reasoning to get an SR5; it'll be a street truck for a couple years until it's paid off and the warranty expires. Then the modding begins. :D

Back to the OP's question just wheel under the truck and see if it has an e-locker. If not then it's a Sport or SR5.

I don't think it would, would it? In New Hampshire they have year, make, model, color, number of cylinders, weight, msrp, number of axles... But nothing about what packages the vehicle is equipped with.
