Ok so I've added my toytec 3" lift with front coils and 5100s at 0 and AAL with 5100s in the rear. I'd like another inch or so, not much more. I know I'll get hit with a big stick for saying this but I'm gonna say it, would a body lift be the best way to get that inch? I know it's not good to put a spacer lift and blocks on top of the suspension I've already added and I don't want to give up function for form. I've been looking all over the place for an alternative to the body lift(can't even find a body lift for that matter) but I know I can at least make a body lift if I go that route. Let's hear it.

    One word: spindles.
Maxtrac will be 4" I believe
Camburg and tc are 3.5" I think.
But you could get those, and also crank up the shocks then get bigger leafs in the back.

Wish I could go that route. I just don't trust BLs

I already have the AAL in the rear, and I've only seen spindles for the 2wd trucks. And I'm more comfortable with 1" BL than a spacer lift on top of my suspension lift. I'm not comfortable with 2"+ BL but I'd settle for a 1" if I can't find it to add to my suspension.

I thought I saw a certain brand that sold spindles for 4x4s. I'll need to find it

If you want more lift without going body or spacer you might want to get a 6 inch lift.

    A little a this, a little a that...
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with a body lift if you just want to clear bigger rubber. They can squeak and cause problems lining up aftermarket bumpers, slider's, etc. But you're not going to bust your junk over a 1" BL. I wouldn't do it just for looks, but they have their place.

Yeah, I think you're kind of stuck with a body lift if you want more without a DB lift. If you put spacers on top of your current suspension you'll have just about no down travel which will make it ride very rough, that and the CVs will be at a wicked angle. As the pervious poster said, nothing wrong with a 1 in body lift, above that is where supposedly problems can arise. If you're just looking to get bigger tires on I'd just bust out the angle grinder, save yourself the headache.

What size tires do you have now? They'll lift it too...

I have 285/75, I'm not doing it just to clear bigger tires, and it's not just for tires, those are just two positive outcomes. And I don't want to buy a whole other lift when I have a brand new one so the 6" is a no, my 87 p/u had a BL and did just fine so I know 1" is gonna be safe on what I have. The whole reason I want that extra lift is to stuff the tires further UP when I take it wheeling without tearing a fender off. I don't want to cut it, yet, but once I start cutting the first things to be cut are the cab mounts and as off now I'm not hitting those yet. El Lobo thanks for the link! And everyone else thanks for the input. I believe I'll do the 1" BL and when I take it out and get some serious rubbing going I'll trim from there. I'll update my other thread when I get the stuff together and put it on.

OME complete kit w/ 885s on Nitrocharger Sports, 1/4" spacers, Dakars w/ Nitrocharger Sports, LR UCAs, 265/70-17, Duratracs, G4 Elite tonneau, Weathertech Window Deflectors, Weathertech digital floor liners, factory JBL/Entune, rear differential breather relocate.
You can add a 1/2" top plate spacer to it that will yield about another inch of lift. Those are fine. Might need longer top plate bolts on your coilovers though.

Lots of guys running 1-1 1/4" BL's in conjunction with the typical 3/2 lift on 4runners. If you get a quality BL it should be just fine but there is the gap. If it bothers you, you will have to modify. I had a 1/2" BL on my runner with the Toytec 3/2 lift and kind of likes it. It was cheap, added a little "ups" and never squeaked...I half way forgot it was on there!

Mine rides like stock for the most part, the rear is a little stiffer as expected so bumps are a little more noticeable. Overall I'm very pleased with it though. And I think I'll pull the trigger Monday on a 1" BL
