    I know it's an old thread but I thought I'd add on here since I'm within 400 yards of the OP that I've had a similar bad experience with the CravenSpeed. They are sending me a new one to try but if that still does't work I'd like to try the 24" Antenna X to see if it matches the factory, if not I'm cutting mine down like everyone else has suggested. But $30 is no big deal to try.

    Please don't take this as being argumentative but out of curiosity why not? I cut mine down to 14" and I still have perfect reception.

    I don't take it as argumentative at all. I could cut it down to what ever length would clear my garage at work but then I'd have to remove the ball and reattach it then paint it all over again. My time is valuable and I'd rather spend $30 then fussing around with the stock one.
