My truck has 123,000 miles on it. I've noticed recently that sometimes it feels like I miss a gear but the RPMs don't rev up like I'm out of gear. If I push in the clutch and pull out then put back in it usually fixes it. I did my plugs around 100,000 miles. It's happened maybe half a dozen times in the past few weeks or so... At first it was just "hmm that was weird" but now I'm a little concerned. Any ideas?

And to clarify... When it does it there is no power... Almost like the truck is out of fuel

How bad is that on a scale of 1-10? I'm not really looking to make any major repairs bc I'm pretty set on a new one within a year or so

I haven't done one in a tacoma. As long as the tank is empty or near empty it shouldn't be too terrible to get to.

I'm just suggesting though that it may be the fuel pump. It would suck to replace it and find that's not the issue.

If your going to replace pump youd be better off sliding the bed back and gaining access to top of fuel tank. Its actually quite simple then dropping the whole tank and disconnecting a million lines running to and from the tank. I did it before by sliding the bed but DCSB cant gain access to top of fuel tank even though yours is not one its just FYI :D

Maybe do the fuel filter first. I've had plenty of vehicles do exactly what you are describing. Thanks to me running on E so often it always traced back to a dirty fuel filter. Shouldn't be difficult to do at all.

The fuel filter in a tacoma is part of the fuel pump. It's a 'self cleaned' filter that is considered a lifetime filter.

Im having the same issue on my 08 dcsb. Im leaning towards the fuel pump being the issue even though i only have 87k on it. Just would be pissed to spend the money and time to find out its not the issue.

Ahh I just got my taco a month ago. Didn't know that. Thanks for making that clear. I remember my 93 pickup had the filter on the frame rail. Guess things have changed in the past 20 years haha.
