I have a '12 DCLB with a Leer shell with Thule removable racks on the shell. The front crossbar is about 6" behind the rear of my cab.
I want to install a 30" light bar on the front cross bar below the bar and between the rack uprights. Then install an electrical receptacle and plug so I can still remove the crossbars (with light bar) if needed.
Plus install two small lights in the lower grill opening on each side of my license plate.
I thought my cab roof would help reduce the glare from the 30" bar.
Any down side I'm overlooking? Advice?
    Thanks everyone, K

Isn't there just going to be a big shadow in front of the truck with that cap light on ?

I thought the two lower lights in the grill would light the shadow you're describing. You may be right. I'm unsure

Have you thought of this option? 30" Rigid Industries LED bar. I've since added amber covers which are easily removable, and cleaned up the bumper.

That's the location I am going to put 2 shorted lights on each side of my plate. What are planning on to hide/repair the holes from you plate's original location?
Thanks for your help. I learning this forum. 1 or 2 people respond the remaining 184 viewers nothing.

I have a 40DR on my DCLB on my headache rack above the cab. As long as you have at least a spot flood combo or a spot beam it will work out good if you take the time to angle it. It will give you a lot of light in ditches as well as in front of the truck. Works great for me.

I just installed the lights a week or so ago so I'm waiting for some good weather to really get out and work on it. Not sure what I'll use. Maybe some plastic plugs from the local hardware store then paint over them. For now it looked ugly and I didn't want to take the time to paint quite yet so I cheated and used white Plastic-Dip in the spray can to blend everything out. I'm actually pretty amazed and how well that stuff works. You would have thought I repainted the whole bumper.

The smaller lights in bumper will fill a lot of the area immediately in front. I have a light bar with take down lights and the shadow is cast about 10 feet in front of the truck. I have lifetime LED 6" Cree bars on each side of the plate. They work great.

In theory you can tie a string to the roof rack and pull out to the front of truck. Start to bring it down until it hits the cab at the windshield and then extend to ground. You will see the shadow star line.
