You sir area special kind of stupid aren't you. Bull bar, Tree , rocks, another car. Why? Even if you had a steel fabricated bumper why? Crumple zones are still intact and your truck is still rendered useless and then goes to tacoma heaven. Airbags disabled or not. You're not thinking with a full deck here son.

With a little fab work you can defeat the crumple zones too. I did on mine in case I come up short on a jump and dirt dart it.

you could find a simple on/off switch then splice it into the wires that run to the airbag fuse(that others recommended pulling). Then mount the switch where ever makes sense to you. pretty simple and should achieve your goal of on/off whenever.

i am not liable for what you do to your truck

RAM what ever you want. Its your truck if you want to push over a tree with a new truck more power to you. Your money, do as you please. I would just suggest not getting arrested.

Couldn't you just wire in a open/closed switch?

We are giving real advice. We are advising him to not be stupid.

Do you want to help him disable the airbags and then run into something and kill himself?

Personal responsibility. What's wrong with disabling airbags? I haven't had them for years. Or ABS, a speed governor, factory seatbelts, a black box, traction control, VSC, etc. I safely navigate the mean streets of this country, and several other countries, without incident.

I agree with Personal responsibility 100%. I think however it is dumb to not use Seat Belts, Airbags and ABS on the road. But you didn't state that you are going to ram your truck into something.

That being said: If you say that you want to disable your airbags / seat belt retract devices and then ram into an immovable object intentionally on a public forum you need to expect to be ridiculed. Why? Because it is Stupid.

If they worked so well every race organization would require them. That is not the case. I used to be a tow truck driver and saw an awful lot of crash scenes. Yes, compared to nothing, your chances of surviving a high speed crash increase with the above mentioned safety devices. What everyone should be asking themselves is how they compare to a simple roll cage and a five point harness. I think it's dumb to believe a vehicle manufacturer has your safety in mind when they design a vehicle.

Sometimes, we smash into things unintentionally. I drove this road 8 hours before, and it was fine. A severe storm upstream of here created a flash flood that washed out the road. We went from 60 mph to zero mph in about 4". It just looked like a shadow in the headlights, I didn't even lift off the throttle. Luckily, I had gusseted the crumple dimples in the frame, and we were both wearing five points. It's just a funny story to me, but in a stock taco would have meant a helicopter ride and a totaled truck. Btw, at this time the airbags were still functional and totally stock. They didn't deploy.

I disagree with you on almost every point:

You are comparing Apples to Walnuts here it means nothing. Race organizations are using 5 point harness' and roll cages because it is safer at the speeds and environment they are in. An air bag in a Nascar going off would probably be more dangerous. A soccer mom is Not going to strap the babies down in 5 point harness inside of a Roll Cage, Wake up and smell the bacon.

Sorry I have to call BS! Head on at 60 MPH to 0 MPH in 4 inches and nobody was hurt, even after you had gusseted the crumple zones and the truck was not totaled and the air bags did not deploy.

Nope not buying that load. Somebody might, but not me.

60 to 0 in 4 inches WITH crumple zones and an airbag is a fatal.

Skydiving without a parachute is only 120-0.

Sounds like if people want to be racing they should buy a racing platform not a street legal platform and then try to race with it.

    Shocker.

You had me at bacon. Have you seen a car seat lately? That is exactly what soccer moms do. Why don't we do it too is the question? Ask any EMT or LE that has worked the highway if they've ever seen a crash where a roll cage, even a simple one, would have saved lives. I'll bet you a box of beer every single one of them will have a story. As far as calling me out, lots of people know me in real life on this forum and know I'm not much for fishing stories.

I bought the TRD. What's the R stand for again? See, it is a racing platform. :D

I did not expect hearing that from a KTM dude. I ride a 990.

    Derp.
The airbags cushion the impact along with crumple zones. They are there for a reason. If nothing there to absorb the impact, guess what takes all the force? I'll answer for you since you seem  Your body. Unless you want to strap into a 5 point harness put on the neck brace and helmet. No thanks.
