Oh crap my bad. Talked to the guy that has it he said it was the kiwi series. Did a quick search and found it weighs 3300lbs give or take. Just pulled up a pick of the kiwi. It's not a fifth wheel. Called him back a minute ago he runs out and checks says he was mistaken. It's a quest. That's a little heavier.

Just talked to the guy again he says the tongue weight isn't that much. But couldn't give me an exact. Shouldn't that be stamped on the info plaque for the trailer? According to NADA the trailer weighs 4800lbs dry. This is sounding worse and worse all the time. Thanks for the help all. Im gonna have to say no to this one.

Edit: thought it was too good to be true at $1500 bucks.

A guy at work pulls an old fifth wheel holiday trailer frame and a tag trailer behind the fifth wheel, he has a Ford Ranger 4.0 v6 auto, he has no problems pulling both, he hauls all kinds of junk to and from his acreage, he burns through a set of tires every year he says!

Did a little more research. Sounds like the trailer is 4860lbs dry weight. Could probably add 1000 pounds to that with all of our gear me the wife and kids. Wet weight would be around 5960. Call it an even 6000lbs. The big surprise is the guy was not lying to me about the tongue weight. He told me it was light but didn't have an exact figure on it. Ive found after a little research that the tongue weight on the trailer is only 600lbs. Its beginning to sound more and more doable. Doesn't look like that much of a challenge to fab up some mounting plates for the frame. But still don't want to cut my bed all to hell. Think I will stay the coarse and find a lightweight tongue hitch trailer.

I have no experience with 5th wheels, but I will tell you that this past weekend I was loading my snowmobile in the bed for the first time ever in this truck and the skis jammed between the wheel wells and I cracked the bed VERY easily. Big crack in it. The composite bed is not very tough.

If it's 600 lbs dry tongue weight you would really have to watch it since the Tacoma's tongue weight max is 650. That 600 is probably dry so it's before battery weight on the tongue is added, before you put anything in storage areas in front of the axles, and don't forget to add in your WD hitch. That thing weights about 50 lbs itself.

That's tongue weight. This is a fifth wheel and the weight is centered over the axle. The bed weight rating is 1280lbs I believe.

Had a snow mobile hanging off the back of mine two weeks ago without a problem. But, that was during the warm up. It was well above freezing. I have wondered if the bed gets more brittle with cold. Was it below freezing? Sorry about your cracked up bed...

with a short bed a 5th wheel will come right through your back window on tight turns. Have seen it happen on full size trucks with short beds (which are still longer than a tacoma's). There's a reason people like 8ft beds with 5th wheels.

Way below freezing. Like 40 below. Thought I crunched my sled so I'm not really concerned about the bed.

I'd go with the adage, "just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should be done"

    Beyond mere weight,

-I would imagine the truck would sway like a sonofabitch with something that big? At the very least you'd get pushed around really hard.

-how's your brakes? I've had some rough times going downhill with a '99 Dodge 3/4T diesel and a 24', I'd imagine things can't be better.
