As the title states, I'm moving cross country in two months from FT Knox, KY to FT Huachuca, AZ and I'm looking for advice on what I should do in order to prep the truck for the trip? Right now the truck is sitting at 117k with about 44k on the tires, 45k on the brakes (30k on the drum brakes), and I was looking at doing the 120k service at the end of this month in preperation for the move. Is there anything else I should do?

Just change the oil and check your fluids, tire pressure, spare tire,

Those miles are easy highway miles and your truck should be fine during that time of the year.

Note: I am driving from New York to Seattle end of April also! Can't wait:D

Those tires are on the high side for milage, and there are some lonely stretches out west. I'd get them changed, or at least give them a good inspection. Make sure you check your spare, lower it to make sure the mechanism isn't seized.

Check all fluids, make sure they're tipped off.

Are you towing or hauling a heavy load in the bed? If so, you may want to inspect the brakes.

Bring a little extra water, you're not traveling during a real hot part of the year, but if something does happen you might be waiting a bit for a tow.

Try to take some extra time and take a scenic route. There's a lot of beautiful areas in Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona.

    Do dents and scratches count?
whens the last time the diff fluids were changed. If its been a while, like more than 30-40K you couldn't go wrong changing that before your trip.

I drive from IL to FL at least once a year (20h ~1300mls one way) and I make sure everything checks out before I leave and also check under the hood, do a walk around everytime I fill up. Most of it is during night time so I bring a flash light to check for leaks and oil...
