Dam right! On the road, the Jeep makes the Tacoma look like an M3.

I do wish the seats were mounted higher your legs are straight out from where your seated. Handling wise it drives like a small truck as for high step in what the hell did they just test drive a Prius and the Tacoma right after?

If the seats were any higher, my head would be against the ceiling. I already have to gangsta lean my seat like a mofo as it is.

A higher seat would make the Tacoma harder to enter, and would require a much higher steering wheel for leg clearance. The 9.3" ground clearance has been reassuring during this horrible winter of unrelenting bitter cold and snow.

Consumer Reports has always taken a contrarian approach to testing. Way back when 50% of all cars sold were by General Motors, Consumer Reports generally preferred other brands. It would be interesting to do a study of Consumer Reports ratings versus sales. If the Tacoma is such a poor vehicle, why does it outsell the competition by a wide margin?

The Tacoma is quieter, rides better, and the engine is much smoother than my 2006 Ford Focus wagon was. The difference is especially noticeable on rough pavement. Bumps that used to cause the Focus to bang, crash, and snap are cushioned in the Tacoma.

Finally, if you want a mid-size 4WD regular cab pickup, the Tacoma is the only choice.

I am going to be honest with my review. This is my first Tacoma. I am going to name only the dislikes. Everything else I like.

    1. I can not make my mind whether I want to pull myself in the truck or use the step bar to get in.
    2. The headlights do not come on automatically when it gets close to dark.
    3. Traffic app on the radio is limited.
    4. Gas mileage could be better. Would be great to be in the 24-28 mpg area.
    5. That's it I like everything else about it.

I kinda agree with the handling part. Toyota should have slammed beefier suspension systems in these great trucks instead of a flimsy set of shocks that when you turn you feel like your taco is about to roll over at the slightest wind current.

I couldn't tolerate my 2013 Sports DCSB 4x4 flimsy shocks so I upgraded them after just a few thousand miles on them.

tacoma is also the only option in a mid size with double cab right now.
    1. I’m 5’8” and don’t even need sides steps and don’t use the grab handle. idk why they say it is so hard to get into. maybe the person(s) are like 5’ tall that tested that out. I did test drive a few that had side steps and they got in my way more than helped me get in.
    2. I’d rather turn them on my self, less sensors and systems to mess up. imho. also i’ll turn them off some times. like pulling in parking spots at say apartments where the head lights shine thru the window. or whan backing out of someones drive way when they are doing the same thing. do need to blind people when you backing up and don’t need them anyways.

3, Imho thats asking A LOT of out a truck. car maybe not. but trucks are geared more for towing and hauling. They also weigh a bit more.

I think i remember one memeber doing the 4” lowering kit on a 4.0 4wd dc. did smaller tires and al and i think he got close to 24 or so mpg. gearing and weight plays a hugh roll in MPG.

By and large from my perspective CR is on the money. We will and are rationalizing the reason we bought these trucks. If we are honest and open minded it's hard to disagree with their observations. Relative to other standards for trucks on the market out trucks fall well short in most areas. I think the collective on this site, a small minority, like them for what they are and not what they should be and that's really cool. I would bet that most of us would embrace the improvements to get our trucks to the bar compared with other offerings.

Even with all the short comings I really enjoy getting in and driving this thing :)

I like it for what it is. but not saying ti can’t use some changes and added fetchers. but most the ones i would like are on the tundra already. like life and average MPG. headed mirrors, power seats. but i have seen some guys want WAY more than i do in a truck. I don’t care about heated steering wheel or any thing like that. heated seats are nice, but not a must have IMHO. even getting in the truck at ) degrees i don’t care to not have those things. you need to let the truck run and warm up for 10min or maybe more when it’s that cold anyways. by than the heat is nice and warm. I don’t care for sun/moon roof in a truck. or a car for that much really. I’d rather have a truck come with trailer brake controller than a sun roof 100x out of 10. other things i’d like to see is all weather flooring,(maybe stock on like trd off road package and option on all others, better fabric on seats thats water proof and more resistant to stains would be nice. would like to see them switch and have all LED lights(turn signals/brake lights ect) and maybe HID’s stock.

My taco rides better than most cars I drive.

If you don't like tacoma, don't buy tacoma. If you like tacoma, buy tacoma.

If you like jeep pos, buy jeep pos. if you don't like jeep pos, don't buy jeep pos.

None of the vehicles were on the list for being BAD vehicles. Those piles of crap are acceptable because they are comfortable....While you're waiting for the tow truck? Two of my three vehicles made the list. I agree with most of what they said about the Yaris and Tacoma. But, To avoid them? I fully expect that these will better 250K and 15 years plus with ease. Sounds like a new type of list is in order.
