I think the best way to describe this noise is...when you have low power steering fluid and turn the steering wheel make that eh eh sound? Its kinda like that I hear it as soon as I start the truck 4.0L. My P/S fluid id full and it doesn't make that sound while turning. To me it seems to be coming from D/S of the engine.
I am not sure if it's an idler wheel or alt bearing going bad.

    Ant thoughts?
    Thanks
    Otto

What year and how many miles I have seen a few idle pulleys make noise start it up and use a long screw driver and put it on the bolt of the idler pulleys and see which one is louder don't get the screw driver caught in the belt tho

With the screwdriver trick and if you find a failed bearing it will be an extremly loud whirring type noise it will sound different from the others

I am keeping the old idlers, press out old bearings and press in new ones so I'll have spares. bearings are cheap.

good luck Standingcow .let us know how ya make out and which idler it was.
