+1 for the Firestone Destination A/Ts...there is a reason its rated #1 on TR. Mine have around 30K on them and still look great. Never had any problems on/off road...

I think the the BFG a/t's were cool back in the day when that was the only a/t that was popular. Truth is, there are way more tire companies out there now making better tires than the bfg a/t. They aren't that good in slippery and muddy situations anyway.

I'm surprised the rugged trails are listed #2 on TR, I haven't owned them, but I can't say I hear a ton of positive reviews on here for them. From what I read, they are great at first, but really go downhill performance wise after awhile.

I have the Duratrac's and really like them. Around my town, I'm seeing them on a lot of trucks. I could almost say that I might see them more than I do the BFG's KO's!

Can you back up this statement with some actual examples please?

Because I haven't heard of people actually having problems, just internet hearsay like this...

^ Where do you guys think are the biggest strengths of this tire from your experience?

I have D rated Geolandar AT-S in LT 265/75/16 and had them for about 40k km (25k miles) now. I bought them very slightly used with about 14/32 thread left. 40k km later, they still look great and are at about 11 - 12/32 of thread left. They seem pretty quiet to me, but D rated are definitely overkill for a Tacoma. This is my DD, and I don't do offroad, just gravel roads to the trailheads so I don't actually need an A/T tire, but like the look. I find them adequate in snow. Not in the same league as my Blizzaks, but miles ahead of the stock Bridgestone Dueller H/T's.

I absolutely love my Hankook Dynapro ATms. I have the P-rated version, and didn't lose any MPG over the OEM Bridgestone Duelers. I just can't say enough good things about these tires, especially their snow performance. They seem to be wearing well too, about 25k on them and expect to get another 40k or so.

Interesting , the low point for me with regards to the ATm's is their performance on the wet snow we get here at sea level on the coast

Anybody ever run the Falken Wildpeak ATS II? Or the Cooper Discoverer ATP?

Could very well be the tires I was comparing them to, though. On this truck I've had the OEM Duelers and Goodyear Wrangler ArmorTracs (Sam's Club exclusive). These WAY outperform both of those. I haven't so much as slid once in these tires, unless I was trying to. How the tires are compared to a bunch of other models that I haven't had is beyond me, but I'm definitely open to what the best snow ATs are, as that's the bulk of my need for an AT tire (winter mountain driving).

You have the Hankook MTs now, right? Are those better in the snow than the ATs?

FWIW, I just bought Discount Tires version of the Falkens Rocky Mountains(same exact tire as Wildpeaks) in a 285/75/16s D-Load and hated them. Dealing with some minor vibes and ride is alot stiffer than I expect for a AT tire.(32psi) Going back to DT to have them switch them out for the Nitto Terra Grapplers D-Load tires. On a side note, I do miss the ride quality of my recently sold Dynapro ATMs P-rated 275/65/18s, those were so smooth. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a P-rated A/T tire in a 33" tire size.
