Too poor to list anything interesting.
I know this was talked about before this week: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/318650-i-do-not-agree-consumer-reports.html

I personally enjoy my 2014. If I could change a few things about it, I would like better stock tires than what came with it. To me, it rides and handles fine for what I use it for. As far as high step in? It's a 4x4. I expected it to be a little higher.

But what would I know. As a driver, CR clearly knows what I like ;)

Which emphasizes my point. They write these things for the minivan and Oldsmobile crowd. My '05 Rubicon Unlimited could climb walls but according to CR it was a total POS because it got horrific mileage and didn't have side airbags.

Im not a 14 owner yet, but i took one on an extensive test drive, and i will buy it in a heart beat when im able to, the ride really isnt that bad( i use to drive a mkv rabbit with sport suspension), the high step in is no problem, im 6'1, with long legs, i dont see how the handling is bad the turning circle was better then some cars ive driven, body roll isnt to bad. it wasnt unexpected you turn the wheel and it does what you want. as for low rear seat doesnt make sense to me it seems fine. driving position is fine, i dont see how they can say all this about it.

These kinds of reports are what turn people away from test drives just because someone else doesnt like the doesnt mean that others will too.

it is a fantastic truck and needs to be experienced to really know how it drives.

only downside to it i found(it was a 2014 double cab short bed v6 4x4, fully trimmed) is the financing which is the trucks fault its toyotas, even at what would be 400 a month with 10k down id still buy it.

i found that funny too, and the lack of side air bags is for function, if your roll slightly on your side and just need to winch back on your wheels and keep going , last thing you want is an airbag blasting you in the side of the head in a recoverable situation

Once the GMC/Chevy midsize comes out, all the features from fullsize WILL be in the midsize trucks. Then the Tacoma will be behind in features until the new model.

I've had my 14 DBCB 4x4 for about 20 days now and would not trade back for the 13 crew cab z71 I had even for anything. Everyone is forgetting what the Toyota Tacoma is. It is not built to be a Cadillac Mini Van with a bed. I think it rides good and i'm 6' 3" and I have plenty of room and can get comfortable. No it is not as roomy as the Silverado, its a mid-size not full size. Yes you have to step higher to get in it, its a 4x4 truck.

Article is a joke. Tacoma and the FJ also have one of the highest resale values for a reason..

the only thing I agree with is the Yaris and only because that's what I had before I upgraded to the Tacoma.

IMHO Consumer Reports is lame, the FJ, Tacoma and Wrangler (in that order) are the top three resale value vehicles of 2014 according to KBB. What is important in their reviews and mine are always 180 out.

Why is everyone hating on the Tacoma's? I personally went shopping for a truck, because I wanted something with 4x4, ground clearance, and the ability to tow a moving trailer but I didn't want to have to park a full size every day. I had also wanted a Tacoma since the early 2000s (and when I first saw Back to the Future, but that's irrelevant).

Anyway, I expected my Tacoma to be a truck. Rough ride, without a European sedan interior.

But my Taco has the nice to have options, TRD Sport with Entune & JBL so it's very nice to me.

I guess the bottom line is that, I bought a Toyota because I know they can't be killed (I saw Afghanistan try) and it was everything I wanted. I don't see Toyota fixing something that isn't broke. Sure they could do some upgrades, but they are taking their time, which may not be a bad thing.

I would like to see Toyota work on the engine power and fuel economy stuff. "Fuel economy - if ford can get 24mpg why can't toyota?" Good question.

    Things I need to tow.
I'm sure Toyota can, and will. But bear in mind that the Ford doesn't get 24mpg lifted, with big tires and at 70mph, and neither will the Tacoma.

I'm skeptical of the Eco Boost. My brother-in-law's father has one that was purchased by his job. He misses the V8 and I've heard MPG's are not as advertised although he's in a 4x4 so it may only be the V6 2wd that gets 24mpg's.

stuff that makes it better for my use...
I have done the same thing(picked up LB DC last Friday), its an adjustment period, however ripping into a parking structure and being able to park is great...

No money, all went to truck...
I mean, who here goes first to Yahoo for credible information? Really?

But they are definietly right about the Yaris. I get sad just looking at that thing. And I think to myself "Toyota, of all the cars you could possibly design, this is it?"

Look at the list of low points they gave: Ride, handling, driving position, high step-in, low rear seat

It's a truck and they say it's disappointing because of the ride and handling? lol WTF Bet it rides and handles better than almost any other vehicle when not on paved roads!

High step in? low rear seat? LMFAO Guess reliability and safety had nothing to do with their rating system.

I can tell you why I am going with the Tacoma over the others. Simplicity. I am a mechanic, and in my opinion (maybe I'm old school) but the more you complicate things, the more likely hood that you're going to have problems. I know, I know, all vehicles these days have electronic this and electronic that. I want a friggin truck!!! I don't want a huge screen and complicated electronically controlled heated and cooled automatic butt wipers in my truck. I want functionality and reliability. I believe in the K.I.S.S. Principle. Keep It Simple Stupid!! THATS why I like the Tacoma. Simple, reliable, good looking and functional. If people want luxury, BUY A FRIGGIN LEXUS!!!!

As much as I like to bitch about the potential problems with my current model, We'll probably end up buying a new Tacoma when the time comes. The damn things are just right in looks/size/features. I'd love a Tundra but its just too expensive. At least the way I'd want it, anyway. My ultimate truck would be a Hilux that looks like a Taco.

You can order one like that these days? I'd love those two "features" :)
