With the lens cover off there are no obvious screws or clips. When unlatched with a small 90° tool the silver tabs on opposing corners don't appear to loosen anything. Any advice on how to remove the dome light assy w/o damage to assy or headliner?

At this rate the dome/map light mod will be a lengthy one!

    Thanks, -Larry.

Are you just trying to swap bulbs to LED?

No. The plan was to link the map lights to the dome light. Hard to get started though when I can't get to the circuit side of the dome light. Wonder if I'll have the same issue with the clips (or whatever is there) on the windshield end of the overhead console?

The 2 silver tabs on both sides hold it in

The overhead console is easy, not sure about the dome light. I have only opened mine up to put in the LED replacement bulb. For the overhead console, take out the screw in the glasses holder, grab from the front and pull down. There are only 2 little clips that hold it in but they are firm. When they pop down, likely one or both clips will stay in the hole, you will have to fish it out with your finger.

As noted, I used a 90 degree tool to unhook the ends from the housing, but the thing is still attached somehow.

Edit: Right you are. Those silver tabs are the ends of formed clips that "snap" into a bracket. If the loose ends are moved towards the center and pulled they will release from the bracket. Looks like they will just press back into place when done. Thanks.

Took a bit longer than I expected (doesn't everything), but mission accomplished and all works well. Used press-on connectors so it is easily reversible, if I should want to.

    Thanks.

    Stock for now
This may be a stupid question, but how did you get the lens covers off the map lights? Those little plastic tabs look like they'd snap if you try to pry the covers off with a screwdriver, so I've been afraid to mess with them to put in my LEDs.

LEDs are next so I can't address that (yet). Lots of advice in the forum tho. I pulled the whole upper console for the power input wire change. --Goodluck
