Hello everyone I have a 2013 regular cab 4x4 tacoma stock wheels are 245/75 r16 6 lug. Just got a toytec 3" lift kit w diff drop. Can I use my stock wheels and tires w the lift until I can afford new bigger ones? Also I love the look of 285's but and worried the 4 cylinder might have a hard time turning them, gas mileage, rubbing? Please help. Thanks

If you regear you should be able to get most of your gas mileage back. 33s with the 4 cyl is gonna bog down with regearing.

i dont know enough about the 4cyl to convincingly say yes or no.. but 285's on that 4 banger i hear everyone saying is so underpowered seems like no fun for the wallet. i had 33's on my 89 4banger without much hassle.. but its a different beast.

im sure someone will chime in with numbers and what not eventually.

Ok well the 33s was a fun dream but gas mileage is kinda important to me so I'll stick w buying 265s if anyone thinks that's to big to please say so. Thanks for the help guys.

You could run 33s with regearing, but that's not cheap. 265 is a stock tire size, it's about a
31.5" tire. You should be fine, but expect a little less mpg, and less power at takeoff. Shouldn't be to bad though. I went from 235 passenger tires to 31" lt tires don't really notice a difference

i've seen people run 285's on their 4bangers, would definitely have to trim and remove the front mud flaps. i'm running 265's and to me that's a perfect size for the 2.7..i also had to remove front flaps and do some minor trimming. you will feel a power loss for sure with either size.

I cant think of any reason stock tires and wheels wouldnt fit with that lift. Will probably look a little funny running a 3" lift with stock wheels and tires.

285/75R16 would not fit on stock wheels without running wheel spacers - the tires stick too far inboard on the factory rims and rub against the upper control arms.

I have 285/70R17 wheels and tires on 17x8" 4.5" backspacing rims - functionally the same size as 285/75R16.

I've regeared to 4.88, and have speedometer calibrator from hypertech in line. I get 15.8mpg (fully corrected) averaged over an extended period of time where I track miles and gas purchased at every fillup.

To run a 33" tire you'll need to trim away a lot of plastic in the wheelwell, and if you off-road you'll do a "cab mount chop" "pinch weld hammer" modification to make the inner wheelwell bigger. Those sound like a big deal but no one who doesn't know tacomas or who doesnt stick their head inside the wheelwell to look will see that you've done anything.

255/85/16 would be a 33" option with little to no trimming since its narrower right? I also have little knowledge on the 4 banger, but isnt 4x4 2.7 stock gear 4.10?

1.5" Wheel spacers all around, 2.0 fox coil over with foxes in the back to match it up, add a leaf. 285/70/r16 general grabbers. my magnaflow exhaust k&n intake just threw in some maxtrac spindles. Total chaos UPA. Bunch of other little things
I'm rocking general graps which are a true 33" tire if you have any questions hit me up I did a lot of cutting and some welding but it turned out super nice. I have a 4 banger and did notice a lil boggy ness but my truck is Manuel I ended up putting on a k&n and magnaflow. Few other things too over all the sound and feel is great now. Looking into chips now

Holy crap thats low. For stock gears ha that like a f750 rearend. Im good with my 3.73. One a side note, are they All interchangeable. Like if the op did regear, could he sell his 4.10?

Pretty sure as long as both are open diff/e-locker they should be interchangeable. My 1999 v6 has 4.10, and I wish it had 4.56. Lots more kiddy up haha. You would be amazed at how much better you would love your truck with a 4.10 rearend. It really wouldn't change city mpg as well, would reduce highway mpg a bit though

If i re gear it will be more noticable than a 4.10 atleast a 4.56, but im thinkin just turbo instead, yeah boost FTW
